hello i have a stupid question but id like a honest opinion ... i have a 4870 x2 but almost EVERY game i have is optimized for nvidia ... i recently downloaded the Resident evil 5 benchmark and its frustating the low FPS i get this happens with crysis stalker bionic commando etc etc .... bottom line , do you think its worth buying a GTX 295? cause when the new generation is realeased i plan to buy a completely new rig with an updated CPU and of course mobo and ram.....

No its not worth getting a GTX 295, What are your current specs including PSU brand and wattage? Something else is causing you the issue.

Hmm chances are even with a cheap 900w psu should power that gpu without issue. So the the only thing to cause that issue is drivers or you have a bad card.

drivers are up to date .... games like left 4 dead COD ~FEAR run pretty well but games that are optimized for nvidia struggle a lot.... i know that crysis is a bad example but with a res 1650x1500 the fps are really low like 15 .... :(

What are the settings you're using in crysis, such as AA and such. There's no reason you should be getting 15fps with a 4870x2....my 4870 performs better than that, also what are the temps your gpu is at? It may be just a bad card.

If you want to get a new card. Sell the 4870 X2 and get a 5870.

well thats the thing , i was going to wait for the 5900 or 5870x2 but the benchmarks ive seen of two 5870 in crossfire are sometimes inferior to the gtx 295 , it only loses with really high resolutions

A 295 doesn't have DX11.

I don't think that's true. 5870 crossfire is leaps and bounds over the gtx 295's performance, and as far as I know, has only been beaten in Crysis by two gtx 285's in SLi. This site seems to have the right idea with comparison: 5870CF, GTX295.
