What are the repercussions of doing this? WIllmy router be affected? WIll i need to change other things or will other things such as my wireless become inactive due to me changing my IP to a US one? What should i expect?

Or will everything be in normal working order but with a different IP on my pc?

ALso, please advise how i would go about checking what my current IP address is please.

Thank you.

Start -> Run -> type "cmd" -> press "enter"

type "ipconfig /all" -> press "enter"

This will give you all the information about your network, including your IP address, gateway, ect.

Your router is probably configured to assign IP's dynamically using dhcp. You would have to assign yourself a static IP address. This should get you started:

That only works with web sites. If he wanted to play a game (or use apps)with a different IP or over LAN, he would need to change his IP.

Except none of this will change his public IP address that is assigned by his ISP. So if you're trying to change your IP, as seen by the outside world, you're out of luck. If you're just trying to change your IP for your LAN, then you're fine, the above suggestions will work.

I use ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew to get a new ip. No idea if it works with routers and all that stuff, never used them.

Ya, thats only for your internal IP. Like someone already said, that doesn't change you external IP. The only solutions for changing that is turning off your modem for like a day, and hoping they assign you a new IP. Or, if you don't mind spending money, you can request a static IP but it cost you like an extra $5 a month.

Changing your IP wouldn't work in that case anyways, as you wouldn't get an IP from that region anyways.

But apparently you can have a US IP and inturn the steam client would beelive my PC isUS based. I know simpleton terms but thats what i was told...I will wait 2 days because its not that long!! I just hope that my bioshock steam version works as apparently many are very dodgy to say the least....apparently...they dont work and such:?

Your external IP address is provided by your ISP, you can't change it.
