got sick today so my mom made me stay home from school and i was looking for computers around my budget ($500) and i really want a desktop with a dual core and the only ones i found were ones with a pentium D (which i heard aren't that great for gaming) and an athlon X2 4000+ and a athlon X2 4200+ and i was wondering if any of those two were good for gaming

obviously, as everyone else is gonna end up saying, go for a lowend core 2 duo and overclock... but of those u mentioned, the AMD's are the clear winners and are still good gaming procs...

You could Go AMD X2 3800+ or a Core 2 Duo E4300 and OC! ^_^ BTW $500 in total or just CPU/GPU/Mobo and RAM?

4200 is fine for gaming, my friend has a 4200 and a decent video card (i forget exactly which gpu) but he runs company of heroes, bf2 and cs source on maxed out settings. I might also mention that he has 2 gigs of ram.
