I've had an Acer Aspire prebuilt laptop that cost me $399.99 in 2011 and it is working wonders. I have been able to run AC4: Black Flag, COD: Ghosts, BF3, BF4, FIFA 14, Skyrim, Mass Effect in 2K resolutions at a steady 60 fps for this price. I feel that the cheap laptops of today are the gaming rigs of yesterday.

I know I'm not able to game in 4K or have multi-monitor support, however I do enjoy gaming wherever I am now and know that if anything goes wrong I can just ride the disposable economy and just get 3 of these babies a decade vs. $1200 for a rig that will be done after 3 years anyways! Also to note I'm in year 4 of my current rig and it still has plenty of horse power, is showing no signs of slowing down and I am playing BF4 with top benchmarks! I fell that many overlook these rigs, not having ever entertained the notion themselves to buy one. Next time your rig conks-out, check one out!

I've included some jpegs of what I am proud to display as my minimalist-gaming-rig setup.

Acer Aspire
Intel Core i3 (1st gen)
Intel HD Graphics
4 GB DDR3 Memory

@sg82014: But at what settings? There is no way you're even close to max settings.

I wouldn't play games at those settings with those specs even if the laptop was free.

There is a bottom quality line that I don't go under. Modern games are meant to be played with all the bells and whistles.

It all depends on personal preference of course, but once you play a game on max it's hard to see it run on an inferior system.

A steady 60 FPS at 1080p with BF4? The only way you could do that is through Steam In-Home streaming from a machine that can actually run that. You're either lying or delusional.

Pretty much this.

2k on a $400 laptop, ok.

@sg82014: You're full of shit. Even at low settings most of those games would struggle at higher resolutions.

@k3ck:

I am running BF4 while I'm replying to you. The settings are great, medium and high. I don't know how this is upsetting to so many of you. I just thought I would help people on a budget. What is your answer? Throw more money at the problem, right...

I lol'd.

There's absolutely no way you are playing any games at all(except solitaire) at 2k at medium and high on that laptop

Ok, post a video showing what resolution and settings you have BF4 running at, then play a few minutes with a framerate counter at the top to show us the 60fps (FRAPS will show the counter).

I know you won't cause you're full of it. I have a Surface Pro 2 which has better specs than your laptop so I know how BF4 runs on it.

lol, by 2k do you mean 1080p? Does your cheap Acer laptop have a 1080p screen? I very much doubt it.

I have a fairly decent laptop with an i5 2410m, 8GB ram and the onboard graphics can barely play CS:GO on medium at 720p.

Cheap Smarphones - The new Gaming rigs:

This Samsung ATIV got Dual Core rated at 1.5Ghz, got Adreno 225 graphics and 1Gb of RAM

You'd be surprised to see that I'm running BF4 at ultra settings.

Well it would be nice if it was an advertisement.

Here we are talking about fraud, misinformation.

Expensive Laptops - The New Gaming Rigs.

Time to take over this thread with my beast. I promise you I can max any game ever made smoothly. Those two SSD's come tomorrow. I think I went a little overboard. What have I done?
