yeah the stock heat sink works well, the case is always around 28C, and the cpu around 36C, pain to install those safety pins in the mobo, took forever.

not sure if ill overclock, if i do, itll be when theres something out that would get something out of it

what more could i do with the cables? i put the cord going to the movo under the sound card and had it go up behind the vid card, so you cant see that one anymore. what else can i do to neat up the cables?

Well, it looks like your IDE connector is in a pretty crappy spot, so that's hard to hold against you - still, I'd pick up a rounded IDE cable (or a SATA DVD drive) to help cut down on that big, black monstrosity in the middle of your case. I'd also space those hard drives out - they block a good bit of air clumped together like that, and the heat from the bottom one is likely going to keep the top one running quite a bit hotter than it needs to be. Move your top drive up one slot, and you should get more power from your intake fan, and I wouldn't be surprised if your hard drive temperatures dropped a few degrees.

Very cool. Are you running those Caviar HDs in RAID 0? If so, are the load times pretty decent? I ask because I will be building a rig in early '08, and I would like to know if Raptor HDs are really worth it compared to more affordable drives in RAID.

i hear raid makes a huge difference, but it doent matter to me, doing all that work jsut so youcan have stuff install 3 seconds faster. woopty do. i rather have it as backup, like a big flash drive. i got what i need

It is kinda late in the Dx9 card cycle and I'd go with the 620 watt P.S.U. I have an Abit mobo and she runs great;eventhough, others do not like Abit.roulettethedog
Agreed. Could have waited a bit and got an 8600GT. But no matter, Shader Model 3 is still going to be around for a while yet.

You could get an external hard drive and then use RAID Array.

You could get an external hard drive and then use RAID Array.

Or just get another 160GB internal and run RAID 5. Best of both worlds.

thanks for the warm comments. as far as overclocking, ive overclocked vid cards in the past, never got too much of a difference besides it running hotter. maybe got 5fps in games. ive never overclocked a cpu, just read how dangerous it is. seems tempting, and easy, but i dont know if i want to. id like this pc to last me atleast 5 years, i dont want to wear out the cpu by doing anything stupid or too extreme. plus when im not playing a game, having an overclocked part isnt really helpful besides the fact you get to say its running at that higher amount

in 5 years that stock CPU will be obsolete, even in 3 years, but a good OC of say to 2.8 GHZ would make it worthwile for around 4 years

cathodes look cool, but it looks like they break a lot and dont last long. plus i my case is lit up very well so that everything is green just by my fans
