I am building a new PC that I need to use for rendering, I am confused about the right processor to use in it a have two possibilities:

- Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition

- Intel Xeon W5590 Nehalem-EP

Note: if I take the second option I will use the EVGA Classified SR-2 motherboard for future modification and update.

Witch ones is better for the rendering, any suggestions will be thankful

High Price or not their raw power means that they will excel at pretty much everything especially rendering and stuff in that nature

I can see money's not really an issue. That being said, with the 500$ odd difference from the next highest Intel offering to the Extreme, I'd just save that cash and do something a tad more useful with it...

No thats wrong, the EE's are just higher clocked versions of the other models, so instead of paying $200-$300 you pay $900+ for little to no real difference. Save that extra money and invest into a Nvidia card to use CUDA for rendering and ecoding which will smoke the i7's.

xeon...server processors are more powerful why not check out nvidia's cuda technology...i heard they offer better rendering performance
