I play games at 1680 x 1050 and whenever something is loading in the game it will go really choppy but once I'm actually in the game it will be smooth as it can be.

For example, when in COD4 singleplayer hows their the music/video playing briefing you on the situation it lags alot while it loads and in GRID when it shows you your stats when it loads.

You left out a very important part, the memory. It sounds like a memory problem too. Also what is your operating system? Is it a 32 bit or 64 bit os? Your graphic card and processor are fine. When you put the amount of memory it would be great to if you knew the speed and type (ddr, ddr2, ddr3?)

I recently got a new screen and started playingg ames (Cod4, grid) at 1680 x 950. Just confusing how loading videos/audio is so choppy while ingame it plays so smoothly

Are they the only games affected? Because in both instances, those things you're mentioning (video/sound/stats) are dispolaying while the game is loading. It's hardly surprising that it's be a little choppy. The same would be true of all games, but most other games just show you a blank screen or a loading bar while the game is loading.

You will never have consistently smooth frames from a game that's running while it's loading unless you hardware is way, way ahead of it. If it's just a little choppy, which is to be expected, just accept it. You only have a problem if it's very bad... but even then it's hardly a problem. It's just loading screen entertainment.

Ooops, right. When's the last time you defragged? How big is your swap file?

Well it is very bad, with COD4 especially and some games it actually matters like it explains a bit of the story.

I defragged around 3 weeks to a month ago and what is a swap file? =D
