For Christmas, i had asked or a new monitor. I spent ages researching and finally found the one i liked:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-SM226BW-Widescreen-LCD-Monitor/dp/B000MRVBF4/ref=pd_sbs_ce_title_1

But today my mum came home from work with a surprise; a monitor. I was anxious, i wondered if it was going to be good or not. It turns out she had done a bit of research herself. This is the monitor:

http://www.ciao.co.uk/BenQ_G2400W__6766587#productdetail

Now i'm asking; does 1000:1 contrast ratio compare to 3000:1 and does 250 cd/m2 compare to 500 cd/m2?

& overall, which is the better monitor? (i plan on playing games on my PC and mabye an xbox 360 if i'm lucky)

Any answers would be great!

To start it is a Christmas present, be happy! I have had BenQ monitors in the past and they are a great monitor. Have had Samsung monitors in the past and they are great also.

Don't be fooled by the DC of 3000:1 it is the same as a CR of 1000:1. Either monitor will give great picture quality, however my personal preference is the BenQ.

An added bonus is the BenQ has an HDMI input for you.
