we ahve an interesting scenario.. we have city interactive the smallest of all of the cross platform developers that arent an indie team. these dudes barely register on the map of gaming as a whole. when you talk a piechart of game develope's by importance ans size they classify in the "others" category

sitting down with the biggest name in visual splendor for the PC crytek.. and they now poses a lincensce to use cryengine 3 as they see fit.

does anyone find it odd that one of the most well known players in the pc market forked over a copy of argueably the best graphics engine there is to the smallest and most insignificant dude in the land.

this is like trusting the sword of a thousand truths to a noob.. you cant trust him with that.. the results are apocalyptic.

so eyah along with the various juptier engines and chrome engine.. they now have cryengine 3.. may god have mercy on us all :o

Some City interactive games aren't bad. Sure no perfect games, but fun for some time.

Oh my god  That is so awesome. I really like city interactive games. Short and cheap generic fps with alot of emphasis on shooting. Now with that engine they will manage to make even better looking games than sniper ghost warrior and thats for the pc, not console ports. Optimized for the pc!! Who knows what they do with it. You know what? Forget crysis 2, ill just wait for them to release something on their new engine.

City Interactive is a big publisher in europe. The quality of their games plays no role becouse they have up to recently been a budget game maker, releasing medicore games for fraction of the price of regular games. Before they used the FEAR engine and now they move on to Crytek. It just shows that budget games are a good buisness. They allowed City to attempt their first big game, Sniper and even release it on mutliple systems.

City Interactive pushes a lot of product out of their doors and prices their games competatively. You need to remember that for every hardcore gamer that won't play a game any worse than Halflife, there are 10 "gamers" with their eMachiens or Costco computers that really dont care and have no problem dumping 20 bucks on some piece of crap.

This is why they could afford the Crytek engine. Crytek didnt let them have the engine, btw. You make it sound like Crytek gave this developer their blessing lol. It is simple business; City Interative gave Crytek a few million bucks. End of story.
