Ive decided to broaded my horizens when it comes to mmo's...ive been looking at city of heroes and i was wondering if it still had a good sized community.More importantly, is it any fun to play? Is there any other mmo's you would recommend?

If I were you I'd go looking around for a trial key before you buy it. it CAN be alot of fun if you have acouple of buddies to play with, but if you are on your own this game is ENTIRELY boring.

I agree with the other posts above, COH is definately not a game for solo players. If you can't find a group you are pretty much stuck beating up the MOBs on the streets instead of doing missions.

It's very fun though. Ragdoll in an MMO is amazingly fun.

I think the poster was talking about the fact that it is released by NCSoft who also released Lineage and Lineage II which are both Korean games. Most Korean games are just as they said a grind fest where you have to kill critters or other playersover and over again just to get levels. Unfortunately COH tends to be the same way even though it was developed by an American developer.

It's great game however once you start hitting mid 30's and 40's leveling becomes real slow.

Now I know exactly what you mean. I played EverQuest for a good year and a half. :I

Since there is so much bad and misinformation in this thread I thought I would correct a few misconceptions. CoH is not anymore of a grind than ANY other MMORPG. You can actually reach the max level faster (if that's your goal) in CoH than almost any other MMORPG on the market.

Anyone saying that CoH is a "group" oriented game is clueless too and I suspect has never even played the game. You can solo in CoH from level 1-50 and there is rarely a need to group with anyone. I'm really not sure what the "can't solo in the game" folks are talking about. Experience is earned a little faster in groups but it's not so great that it makes grouping a necessity.

CoH is a fun game but it can get a little repetitive (what mmorpg isn't?).
