which would be a better buy Civ IV or Rome total war + the Barbarian invasion expansion??  Also i have a computer that runs Company of Heroes on high and runs WoW on all high settings and gets a consistent 40-50 FPS even when in large raids will that be good enough to run both of the aforementioned games????

Thanks for reading

Wow this is really hard!

It depends if you want a really really deep strategy game or a shallower strategy game with more action elements. Overall I like Rome Total War better, but Civ 4 is also a must have

Rome it more of a RTS while Civ. 4 is depth TBS.

Rome is all battle, In Civ. 4 you have build structures for you civization to thrive, You most invest in Science and pick a religon to boost happiness, you must also control the economy and make laws even decide the form of goverment.

You can test your system with this remote Java-powered website, which tests your computer for passing for minimum and reccomended settings for MANY games:

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

You can trust it.

Hmmm good question

Do you want one of the greatest turn-based only strategy game (civ 4)?

Or do you want a pretty good turn-based strategy game that has a dash of realtime combat (Total War)?

Rome total war :

All players that like Strategic games should play because Rome: Total war is one of the best strategic games ever! A lot of people consider it "The best"! Rome total war is done to be appreciated also from that players that don't have a lot patience.

Is possible to play immediately and play a lot of battles!! Or is possible to play the campaign mode!

Game play: really good and easy, also very intuitive.
Graphics: Creative have made a really a good job! Good details and nature details.
Sound: Well done. On battle is great to hear battle sounds and voices!

Civilization 4:

This game is top notch. I wanted a while before getting this game and I am glad I did get it once I built a new gaming rig.

The graphics and the game play is what would expect from a Civ series. The expandable of the game is so nice and flexible. If this is Civ 4 what will Civ 5 look like. 1st person views?

The game though has an intense learning curve even for someone familiarize with the Civ series.

Pro: Leonard Nimoy doing the narration for the game. Graphics are top notch.
Con: If you have a slow machine, upgrade. You will need it to play this game.

The winner CIv

PS:the expansion pack Warlods Rocks

Oh no, Civ 4 has lots of war if thats what you want.  Its just the battles arent real-time as they are in Total War.

Rome is MUCH better on the battle aspect, IMO. I never could get into Civ IV, and I really don't know why. I really tried. I feel like Rome is the game Civ should have been, but that is just me. Don't flame.

Yes, Rome: Total War is better for you.  its an awesome game, might even load it up myself right now!  And you can control your armies in real time if you wish.

Good luck and have fun!

I would suggest you play the demos for both of these game which can be downloaded from this site. That would give you a much better idea which of these game you prefer and feel more comfortable playing.

Sounds like the worst game ever, it would take forever to finish a game and I don't want my game to be interrupted by boring real time combat

Civ games does have combat, but it's not real time. Combat is simplified, here you take your units and move them onto an enemy unit, then the computer calculates the battle output for you. The chances of winning depends on which unit you have compared to the enemy unit and which promotions these units has

Both are magnificent, great games. As pointed above, there is no actual combat on a battlefield in Civ IV.

Rome : Total War is a complete strategy game. May be they should change the name from Total War to Total Strategy
