Hiya guys, having some problems with Civ 5 on my PC, basically its running really badly with a semi-low FPS and constant texture pop-in while scrolling across the map.

Is there and hotfix/patch from ATI that can fix these issues?

Cheers

EDIT: Also my rig is in my signature so as you can see its certainly powerful enough.

Run it in DirectX 9 if you're not already.

I have similar specs to you, but 4850 instead, haven't had any issues. The fps might be low on bigger maps towards the end but not in a way it would bother me in a game like this. Have you tried running it in DX9 or turning down some DX11 specific settings(if there are any). Or it might not like the overclocking or some app on the background.

Yeah, I have tried running it in DX9 mode and also removed all AA. The performance didnt improve at all. Clearly something is wrong. All other games work fine though and its the system is definitely malware free.

I'm running a 4870 512MB card and no issues so far. I assume you updated to the latest driver and all that? Have you tried updating your other hardware drivers such as chipset and sound? Sometimes they can cause problems with performance in some games while others work fine.

Graphics driver is up to date...might update the sound and chipset to be safe.

you could try install dx from the game disk/installer again, though win 7 doesn't need it, some games need it to run well.

also, civ 5 needs c++ 2008, be sure you have it installed.

btw, the first patch is already out, be sure to patch the game up.

Sup Daytona...sorry to hear that you have problems with CIV 5...I'am enjoying the game so...so...soooooooo...much!!!! :D

But i guess its because the video drivers...i know u said u have ur drivers up to date but try some older vers...

P.S. The 48xx series from ATI had many driver problems whenever new games where released...Also check out if have some "graphic options" checked ingame(CIV 5) that could cause ur ati card to behave like this.

P.S.2> Btw i play the game maxed out 4xAA @1920x1080(DX 11) and i dont have problems with the frame rate...BUT i do have frame drops between the turns(2-10 fps),but this is something normal...if your problem is with low fps between turns...that is normal so you dont have to worry about nothing.

Something on your end, it works great for me, unless I put on like 20 mods.

Could be a wrong driver or some kind of conflict between ofhter program or driver you have on your pc.

I am running everything on max except shadows and AA. Try turning shadows down or AA off? I am runnign it on dx10/dx11 mode.
Thats abotu all I can suggest bud! Hope it gets better! THe game is amazing!

Yeah FPS does drop between turns, especially towards the end of a bigger game. I also get texture pop in after loading a game, but after scrolling over the terrain once it doesn't happen again. I think these are inherent flaws to the engine and might not be fixable. The only glitch I've noticed is that sometimes a city doesn't seem visible, but the name tag is still there and you can interact with it.

I get tons of texture pop-in when I scroll around, and it slows down while scrolling. Oh and turns take really long. All of this started happening on huge map/12 AIs.
