ha thats PR, one moment PC gaming is in disarray now its back. everybody musta started calling him an idiot.

Something tells me we will soon here about the un-timely death of Cliffy B.

Obviously an attempt at damage limitation now that Epic is part of this so called 'PC Gaming Alliance' (which is really Microsoft's 'Lock-In-The-Gamers' Vista Gaming Alliance).

It's harder to get the cat back in the bag than this kind of staged PR. Cliffy already lost all credibility, and I don't care much what he says about anything. I just wish he'd stick to console development and stop spouting nonsense.

Well, I didnt take him seriously when he said his previous anti-PC gaming comment earlier, why would I take him seriously now? But youre right. Unfortunately, the damage to my sensitive ego is done and I will never buy another Epic product. Unless, of course, it is awesome and Cliff didnt touch it.

His comment indirectly told me that he believes a game needs to be beautiful to sell a lot of copies.

He was frustrated that UT3 didnt sell a lot. "Its got great visuals like Gears, I dont understand why it wont sell!" problably cuz its got the same gameplay that the series has had since 1999. Not to mention that, unlike on console, there are a lot more titles and competition (in aiddition to more discriminating gamers) than there are on console. Why would I buy UT3 when UT2004 has a larger community with the same, even better, gameplay? Why would I buy UT3 when Counterstrike and Battlefield are a lot more fun?

"Derrr you gotta be WoW or Sims to sell a lot of copies". Funny you mention two "genres" that are almost exclusive to PC gamers, or sell 99% of their copies on PC. Funny you forgot to mention STALKER, Galactic Civs 2, Call of Duty 4, Sins of a Solar Empire, etc. Thats because, Cliff, to sell a game to PC gamers you need be innovative both in terms of visuals AND gameplay. Pretty visuals and hype will only get you so far with PC gamers.

Cliff made one good game (its not that good imo, but good enough) and he was good at PR...so why does he think he is all of a sudden this authority on video gaming? Thats what I Want to know.

To me, Cliff is a "college know-it-all hippie" that has yet to move on to the real world. I hope he is enjoying his zero-G flight on the vomit comet.

I will be honest: my sister is the same way. She is getting her doctorate right now, but if you met her you would think she was a bimbo that likes the beach and goes clubbing a lot. Its great to see people underestimate her then get schooled by her. I suppose Cliff could be similiar.
