The single player is amazing, for all three factions

But the multiplayer is unbalanced, at least until the patch comes out.

It's a pretty boring game with the smallest maps I've ever seen in an RTS. Each mission takes about 20-30 minutes to complete. Blargh.

Well all i can give is my own personal opinion. C&C3 is a fun, generic, easy to learn rts. It has somewhat dated graphics but still looks ok on high settings. Multiplayer is lots of fun. I think is an arcade style rts if such a thing could actually be possible. Personaly after playing coh i found it more frustrating than fun, stupid units and dated ai etc. Dawn of War is also far far better and more fun multiplayer. Still a good game though, still think gamespots 9 was way over the top though lol.

The games pretty awful, I didn't think the single player was any good, but  I'm not really interested in the single player aspects of RTS games, the multiplayer is were it is at and as far as the multiplayer goes CNC 3 has some of the worst in RTS history.

The online community has shrunk drastically over the last 6 weeks or so because the game has horrid balance.

If you just watch a replay of a good player using Scorpion spam and then copy him like most the community has now done you will probably never ever loose to another strategy simply because the game is just so poorly balanced.

EA has hyped and claimed they have a super patch coming up that will wash away most the problems, but I wouldn't count on it as if you look at EA's past RTS games to this day they all really do still display poor balance.

If you want a good RTS game I suggest you go with either Company of Heroes or Supreme Commander, if the Supcom system requirements have scared you off you really should worry about that now as the new patch that just came out for it heavily optimized the game to the point you will be able to run it fine as long as you have a 3000xp/P4 3GHZ  1 gig of ram and a 6600GT or better.

What difficulty do you play this game on? I play it on hard and make sure I get all of the bonus objectives and only the very easiest of missions took that long to do.

But overall its a great game, the single player is spot on.

SupCom is balanced because the factions are practically identical :P

Not really, maybe 20% of the units are nearly identical faction to faction, but they are far more different then people give them credit for. I think part of the problem is that since the same type of building and units are at the same parts of each of the tech tree people are led to believe the are the same, but they aren't

Let me lay out the differences between each factions Tech 1 tanks to make the differences apparent

Aeon tank- Low Health, slow fire rate, long range, accelerates fast low top speed, hovers over the water, high damage

Now Contrast that to the Cybran tank

Medium health, rapid fire rate, short range, fast, low damage, can repair other units and help engineers build anything.

You make a fair, well organised point. I'll be sure to put that to the test at some point.

It would have been better to say "MP in CnC3 is awful. It sounds that you are giving your thoughts of the game based only on one part of it (which may be misleading).

Anyway, the gameplay is very solid. Those seconday objectives are a nice detail. And the graphics are great for a game with the SAGE engine. The MP part of the game sucks, thats true.

I had more fun with the single player campaign than I've had with any RTS since Warcraft 3.  It is a blast with a lot of different flavors of objective-based rounds.  Multiplayer needs work, but has a lot of potential.
