Haven't played 5 but I admire the confidence and precision with which Infinity Ward was able to take a WWII game and translate the same tension and excitement into a new setting and time period into a new game, that felt fresh but still had that Call of Duty flavour. They're a talented developer in my opinion.
EDIT: COD4 also had a very slickly presented and executed storyline - with a surprisingly emotional ending!! Thats not easy!!
I bought WaW on Friday, it was over way too quick. Played it 2 hours friday night, 2 Saturday, none Sunday, one hour Monday, and finished it today (maybe another 2-3 hours).
In my opinion, the American campaign (vs Japanese) was just awful. It was the same thing over, and over, and over again. Storm emplacement, stop bonzai charge, clear tunnels, repeat.
The Russian campaign was simply stunning, however, even though this is the third or fourth game where Ive stormed Berlin and the Reichstag lol.
CoD 4 was extremely enjoyable, however, all the way through. It was slightly shorter iirc, but the pacing was better, there was more diversity in the missions, and it just seemed better all around.
So my vote goes to CoD4. World at War was enjoyable, but CoD4 was just fantastic.
COD 4 is superior to COD5 in many ways. Not just the storyline, also the weapons, levels and missions are way better, then COD5.
The problem of COD5 is the timeline of the story. There are way too much WW2 games out there. I am getting bored with this WW2 games and their weapons, that are the same in every game.
Hope the new COD will be set in modern times.:D

nah I dont hate it, but I suppose "fantastic" was a bit strong.
Lemme rephrase....relative to World at War, Call of Duty 4 is a better game.
they are both short, finished solo game in about 8 hrs or so but i liked the story in cod5 better. Guess i like ww2 stuff betterTyson8earzzI CAN'T BELIEVE YOU PLAY COD GAMES ONLY FOR THE SINGLE PLAYER EXPERIENCE! Are you serious? I think COD 4 will win this pool again, WaW is pretty good though.
The same story we played in COD 3, COD 2 and COD1 + UO....that is the story of COD:WaW.
COD4 for me. I bought it in the winter of 2007 and still play it to this day online.

Sorry but what is so great about CoD multiplayer? I found it really boring. If anything, that (and the short singleplayer) are the two weakpoints imo.
I am 100% on the whole WWII thing I can't take it anymore!!!i have only done cod 1-2-3-4, not waw...
im freaking tired of WWII, out of all the shooters released in the past few years, half have been WWII.
so even though i havent played WAW, my vote still goes to COD4.
