I value the story most in games, but when you buy a shooter like CoD4 if you don't have an internet connection or not into multiplayer, don't buy.
CoD4, TF2, and CS are game with little or no story at all, you buy them to spend all your hours on the competitive multiplayer.

Have you played the multi-player?
People spend money on FPS with the intention of getting 10-20 hours out of them in single player and countless more in multi-player.
TF2 and CS have no Singleplayer.. Cod4 is a pretty much only MP..and 100 bucks woah... Shadowhawk000
with little or no story at allAnthony01355
what I dont understand is why did you even think a game would cost $100, even when they are brand new the are only half that price $50 no more than $60, i'm sure this wasnt the first game you bought the last time I heard of a game costing nearly that much is when I bought Zelda for Nintendo 64 back in the day which I think was the only game in history to even cost that much no other game hasProjectPat187 the people who ganked me were eb games

He could be English, Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation has complained of bad games costing $100 when he reviews them.
Its your own stupid fault for not reading the reviews and actually looking around for cheaper offers. Call of Duty 4 is a multiplayer game, and a good one at that. The single player, allthough its actually very good, its really just a bonus.and on top of it i paid $100 dollars for it and took me 2 days to finish it

Pretty much the exact way I felt about Halo 3
Also this game is on eBay right now and I see it all the time up for $20 'buy it now' new.

yeah it is pathetically short, if u want a longer and imo better cod play the cod2

Yeah, COD2's campaign was fantastic, and quite long, too.
COD4's campaign was good, but too short. The multiplayer was very good, improving the fundamentals of COD2.
No worries, you aren't the only one who felt burned by how short the Single-Player was. It may be due to not enjoying the multiplayer aspect to much but it was definitely not worth it. Oh and all of the people making fun of him for paying $100 dollars for the game. Have you considered that maybe, just maybe he lives in another country such as I don't know, Australia?
$100 !!!!! what the hell? if you bought COD 4 and 5 together it woudn't even add up to that much. Not even in the UK where the game is like £34.99 if its new [might be cheaperr now].
Anyway it is a short game. I don't play multiplayer so i was a little disappointed. However its like an action movie which you play out on the pc. As long as you enjoyed the amount of time you spent on it then you shouldn't complain...There are more than nough call of duty games out there to tide you over util november.
I don't understand how people think it is very short. I find it very long and entertaining. I don't know, I must be tolerant or something.

Well despite how you find it, it is a 6 hour campaign in a genre where 12 hours is standard. Basically if you buy it for the single player only you payed twice what an average FPS would cost per hour.
I'm sick of people saying that if a game is short it sucks. All CoDs are short in comparison to say...something like HL...but they are a SUPERB amazing rollercoaster ride so every minute of the 6 hours is worth it. Also, if you play MP then the game becomes endless.... so stop complaining. I'll easily buy the next CoD even if it's only 6 hours....I'll rather have a great weekend playing then paying for something that is 20hrs long, boring and buggy.FelipeInside
The HL series is a rollercoaster of action from start to finish as well, and both games in that series easily last 20+ hours. Also I believe COD4 ranks as the shortest COD by far. Perhaps I just took my time with all the other titles, but I remember COD and COD2 taking me quite awhile to beat whereas I got through COD4 in several hours.
Anyway, you buy COD4 for the multiplayer, not the single player. If you get it for the single player you've just wasted your money since not only is it ridiculously short but it's also hampered by archaic game design choices (most notably infinitely respawning enemies) and a poor story. The multiplayer has some big issues as well, but it's still one of the best multiplayer experiences out there (just don't stress over your K/D ratio in COD4 since, unlike in other FPS games, it doesn't mean squat).
Yeah, I was totally disappointed too! The game jsut started to suck me in and suddenly in ENDED. I was like "Wait, i was just getting in there!". It's not ha;f-baked, but it's quite short. CoD doesn't attracts me with multiplayer, but with it's superb story. The levels in Chernobyl totally cracked me up!
I'm looking forward to CoD Modern Warfare 2.
By the way, the vendor have cheated you (blackmailed you), cause this game is, believe me, A LOT CHEAPER right now :) In 2007 maybe it was 100$, but now it isn't more than 30$ :)
I beat CoD4's singleplayer on my roommate's PS3 in around 3.5 hours. It was pathetic.
That was when I realized I would never buy a call of duty game again. No that's not entirely true. I decided that when CoD3 was console exclusive.
