COD MW2...whats the deal guys?

Whats with the hype? After watching the trailer, you should see that its just another Call of Duty game! After 5 of them, whats the commosion? I hope there are some people out there who understand where I'm coming from, but watch the trailers, the gameplay footage, the theme, the same old gameplay(that really isn't such an issue), everything is recycled. The game already came out!

It annoys me when everyone focuses their attention on such cliche games such as this when the real attention should be going to games such as Heroes of Newerth, in which is raising DotA to its rightful peek, Savage 2, an 100% original game concept (when does that ever happen anymore...), and Guild Wars 2, a 100% true MMO that actually refuses to charge monthly fees.

I'm not implying that games like Aion, WoW, FF, or the Call of Duty series being bad games at all, but whats the big deal? These games need to be tossed aside to bring up the games that should be shining...

I'm just wondering if anyone feels the same way, because the comments to that MW2 video astounds me. The game is so cliche that it almost gets me mad...

Captain Price is badass...it's typical the 6th time around.

IW is doing what it does best by combining cinematic FPS experience with top-notched multiplayer content. it never once tried to be, or promised to deliever, what it is not. so i must say i don't know where you're coming from.

In any case after watching the latest mw2 trailer i can easilly say that i am amazed. It looks like the first? Good or it wouldnt be like cod4 and there would have been trouble.

With this logic i dont see why prince of persia fans are pissed about he new prince of persia for not been another recyclement of the first game but something new and diffirent.

Or what about tomb raider games, till Angel of darkness there were 6 games almost identical to each other, diffirent levels but still it was just another tomb with traps and animals.

There are 2 wiii cod games on pc and a whole load of medal of honor games ( i am not gonna count cod WAW 8)) Why not a modern warfare 2?

What about brother in arms? the first and the second were almost the same and the third was very diffirent.

Also i dissagree about savage an AIon or guild wars, i see no need to take a pick at those games because i wanna play cod 4...there i said it, and cod mw2 is like that.

gear of war 1&2 are so similar. left for dead 2 is like copy and paste. Or bioshock 2... it looks exactly like the first one.

I still love the series and play them. CoDMW2 has been delayed but so what... not a huge delay but I'll be playing it when it comes out.

I'm looking forward to the muliplayer, I doubt I'll even play the singleplayer until I get bored with the multi, which will probably take a while since I'm still playing cod4 online.

Again, don't get me wrong, the CoD series is a great series. But it's just another CoD game. I don't think it should be one of those games put on every gaming community homepage.

CoD4 was equally as worthless. It lost its soul because they're whoring out the franchise. And they start whoring it out once they decided they'd license the series to two developers at the same exact time.

CoD4 is the best in the entire series, behind CoD1 of course. The rest of them have been completely reskinned, repackaged, resold, full price.

I'm not getting MW2 because I'm not paying $60 for it. PC games should be $50 and I'm not going to contribute to the downfall of PC gaming by buying this piece of junk for $60. **** you Activision.SF_KiLLaMaN

Twinfun2, I totally agree with what you said. It's very much cliched. The single player is like a new Hollywood B-movie for an ADD kid. That's not to say it's bad, but not immersive and can't be taken seriously.

Multiplayer is very random, with the 1000s of nades and airstrikes and helicopters flying about. That said, it's a lot of fun! It's something that's quite easy to jump into. Doesn't have a high learning curve. Also, the game looks great while running even better, thanks to the awesome engine. Plus, Infinity Ward hasn't abandoned PC like other PC devs, so we should be happy with what we got. That's my take on it.

I have great faith in infinity ward, but this looks exactly the same as COD4. The visuals arent even updated. From the last trailer, it looks like the SP campaign will take place partly in the USA, which i'm guessing is the source for much of the hype. This is the first COD sequal made by IW that i'm contemplating passing up on, since it seems i could simply go back to COD4.

The COD series is turning into the NHL series... releases like clockwork with minor, trivial improvements over previous titles.

Unlike most people I haven't played COD, I have WaW but I don't like World War II too much. I only really played COD WAW's campaign and rarely played the mutiplayer (mostly because PunkBuster kicks me). So, having never exiperence COD's mutiplayer, I'm pretty hyped.

That's very easy to fix. Just download pbsetup.exe, place it in your codWar/pb folder (delete everything else in there, though) and run the setup. Done!

I thought Cod 4 was a fairly linear game. It was fun and all, but nothing new. No idea how it became so big. Ill prob get mw2 but not until its price is really low.coolmonkeykid

You are missing the point man even though you are hitting the nail bang on with some of the comparisons you are drawing...can't anyone see what is happening to the game industry??? It's following in the footsteps of Hollywood. Look at the majority of movies these days...almost all of them are rehashed **** and only a few of them creative original works of art, can we say 'independent films....' So the same thing for the game industry; for the longest time now, oh it probably started to happen at the end of the 90's, we see garbage that these big conglomerate AAA publishers put out on the market to milk all of you people out there...which is most of the gaming population...out your hard earned cash for...****! Why does this happen...good marketing, that's why. The way the industry operates has caused the business drive to minimize risk, killing many stunning ideas. A good example of independent developers that take these risks regardless of how the rest of the market operates is 'Double Fine' and 'Gearbox Software'. These two studios just released two amazing titles that are probably going to be considered two of the best games in the history of the game industry; 'Brutal Legend' and 'Borderlands'. These two titles are proof that original ideas are still profitable. Sure these two games borrow from other genres, and we can probably even compare them directly to other games, but these comparisons are very detached. These games have successfully mixed different genres and managed to keep the gameplay exciting and face paced...absolutely phenomenal games! 'COD 6' does not even come close to the quality of these original and fresh games. COD 1&2 are the only two genuine games from the now dead and bloated series...

Probably because S.t.a.l.k.e.r. doesn't have lines around the store at midnight and every mainsteam media outlet calling it the "next big thing", when they release a new game...
