9.4, the game looks amazing. the campaign is short but multiplayer will be the major attraction.

Damnit! I'm tired of companies focusing so much more on multiplayer then singleplayer...SentientGames
i actually like that. singleplayers lose their shine so fast. especially when talking about first person shooters. good multiplayer = good FPS
i enjoyed bioshock though...
EDIT: and did you read this from IGN: "The single-player experience is easily Infinity Ward's best work to date". so if you've liked CoD series on singleplayer before, you should get this.

yeah if i get it, i'm getting it for the multiplayer! it looks like sooo much fun! not to say that i think the sp is crap or anything but the mp looks really revolutionary and stuff.

Yeah me too. The only games where i have spent over 50 hours on multi is the battlefield games and the UT games.
But ill pass on this one still because i like the ww2 setting more.
Having played in the MP Beta (albeit for X360), I am definetly getting this game. The fluidity in at least the MP is unbelievable. It's beyond addictive!
I will be turning in Halo3 for this puppy because Halo3 didn't really do it for me. (Never even took the time to beat it :(
That is, if I can peel myself away from Hellgate London :(

Same here guys.
MP is fun and all, but I don't have the time to devote to it. Especially with persistent stats, ranks, etc. it can become very time consuming. With SP, there's a much better chance for a great story, and is a game you can take in and absorb at your own pace, it comes with a pause button for example :P
I had great fun with BF2, and love UT2K4 at LAN parties for example, but I'm mostly an SP player. Still want COD4 though :)
yea. i hate the fact that they dont focus on single player as much anymore. one thing that i really really miss is coop mode in games for the pc. my brothers, friends and i used to lan quake 1 & 2, duke nukem 3d for hours back in the day. now it seems like you cant do that naymore unless you are playing lame ass halo. could you guys image playing any of the cod's or hl2 in a coop mode?
I loved the demo and I'm looking forward to trying the full game (gotta wait till friday here in UK), but 9.4 seems strangely high for a game that basically feels like a recycled version of Cod2. Don't get me wrong, CoD2 is one of the best games ever made (I'd put it about 6th or 7th on my all time best FPS list), but the demo really did strike me as just a recycled game.
Great as that is for people wanting to replay CoD2 and get a fresh experience, it just didn't strike me as 9.4 material. Unless it's the multiplayer that really gives it the edge? Personally, I couldn't care less about CoD4 multiplayer. I am in love with TF2.
Got this week off work though (for The Witcher), so I'll be outside Game at 9am to pick up my copy of CoD4 and Gears.

i agree
Yeah this was a good review, and since it's 6 hours, you may as well start it on Veteran the second you start playing, it may add an extra hour or so unless you really ARE a CoD veteran, and you've learned from your mistakes in CoD 1 and 2.
This comes out 6 days late on Steam, good thing I'll be very pre-occupied this week, otherwise I'd be freakin' out and be all pissed off. There's like, 3 games I'm looking forward to in this whole week. CoD4, Forged Alliance, and Gears. That's already like 150 bucks right there! I hope the steam version is Cheaper.

I hear you. It's just, when first played Call of Duty 1, I was amazed by the cinematography and scripted battle sequences. I remember stormingStalingrad as a Russian soldier trying to take back the city from theGermansand I was blown away by how active and dynamic the battlefield was. That's what I remember about Call of Duty.I honestly wasn't impressed by the multiplayer. So, when I think Call of Duty, I think of the single player experience, and that's what I was expecting from CoD4.
Anyway, I playedCoD4 for aboutfive hours yesterday and I'mreally impressed. I don't regret buying the game. I just know I'm going to be dissapointed when I beat the campaign andsee how short it is.
But, you're right, a good MP makes a game last a lot longer. The thing is, I'm already addicted to Team Fortress 2, and I don't like changing MP games a lot.
