Hello.
I've been looking for a new multiplayer FPS to get, but I'm very picky about such things. The only games I'm playing are UT2004 and TF2.

I've got a few questions about Call of Duty 4's multiplayer mode.

1) How much of a lasting appeal? I know it's been out for quite a while, so is it going to be as daunting for a newbie as, say Counter-Strike?
2) Is the perk system really that nice? I'm looking for a game that is going to enocurage me to keep playing for a reason. Does this work as such?
3) How many players are online? Did it dwindle lately or is it really easy to find a good game going?
4) If there's many, do you think they'll still be there in a while?

COd 4 multiplayer is fun and there is still 50 to 100 servers that have 20+ people play on any given time now. The perk system is nice giving you edges depending on weapons and what map you are playing. It has a lot of more depth than counterstrike

1. it's pretty easy to be good at if you are familiar with fast paced fps gamaplay. To be REALLY good, tho, will take alot more effort.

2. personally, i think it's nicely made and rewarding. the best thing about it is that it does not upset the balance of the gameplay.

3. ithasone of the largest, if not the largest, multiplayer communities on pc. TF2 is miles behind in terms of popularity.

4. no. Modern Warfare 2 will be released by the end of this year, and the bulk of the players will surely migrate to the new game.

Alright, then. I guess I'll buy the new game when it comes out and then buy MW when it becomes a bit cheaper for SP.

Yeah, I guess, why play games for fun when you can play games for showing off your skills (for some reason most of the people that say skills when it comes to FPS games are complete, as they say, noobs), swearing and playing it just so you become better. If you're not a professional killer or like simulators, any game is fun if it's any good, and there isn't another game as intense and cinematic as the CoD series, but hey we're noobs, we noobs tend to play just for fun, we don't need simulators ;). It's a great game, a lot better than WaW imo, but yeah, wait for MW 2, because it will surely attract most of the MW community, unlike WaW.

Yeah..You don't play games for fun. You play them because you want to be a professional CS player? Don't buy it, stick with TF2 until MW2 comes up, the community will go to the new game.
