To tell you the truth, I'm getting COD4 80% because f multiplayer. So if you dont play that, get GOW.niwom510
Lol yeah tbh, i'm getting CoD4 like 90% for the multiplayer :P It's not that I think the SP is bad, but I'm really looking forward to the MP.
I am playing Gow right now and if you never played it you are in for a treat. Deihmos
You say you are playing GoW but your thing in ur sig says that you were last playing CoD4 :P

I was playing COD4 on the 360 and didn't sign on with it when playing GoW PC. It's late and I didn't have the time. All i can say is I am impressed. The keyboard controls work well and it looks crisp. The Unreal engine said my average frames were 62 so that's good enough for me. Tomorrow i will try some co-op.
Curious to know if the MP is any good. Never played it on the 360 and it's really the only thing that I'm not sure if it's worth buying or not. Since you have both CoD4 and GoW, which one has better overall SP and MP?
I went into gamestop hoping to buy it today, but everyone there except for one person didn't even know a pc version of Gears was being released and didn't have the game in yet. Even though I'm not much of a CoD fan, reading reviews and watching some gameplay footage is persuading me a little to buy that instead.
I would have said CoD4, but I just read the gamespot review and Jeff Gertsmann says under five hours for the single player campaign. I was going to buy CoD4 on day one (which is friday in UK), but for once a review has actually influenced my opinion. It may be a fantastic five hours, but It's just not worth my money when I can literally play The Wticher or even Hellgate all day.
But anyway, as a singleplayer experience, CoD4 is probably quite a bitbetter than Gears, but Gears is 3-4 hours longer.
So if you're not playing any multiplayer at all, CoD4 probably takes it - but I personally am not paying full price for a 5 hour game, since I don't have any particlar interest in online for CoD4. Gears, though, I do plan on buying - almost exclusively for coop and mod potential.
Really, though - it depends on what you like, and what you've played. If you've played CoD2 extensively then you already know pretty much what you're getting, and if you've played Gears on 360, then you literally already know what you're getting.
Gears of War is longer and certainly a much more unique and innovative title than any CoD game, so I'd go with that. Also, it's sure to have a really solid mapping/modding community and plenty of developer support, since it's an Epic game. I beat it on the 360 no less than three times--it's that good. Go get it.OremLK
I agree. If you're not buying CoD4 for the multiplayer, don't buy it. The campaign is pretty damn cool, but it's so short that you pretty much have to be into the multiplayer side to get your money's worth.
If you've played GoW before, I wouldn't bother getting it for the PC. But, if you've never played GoW and you're looking for the singleplayer experience, get Gears. The gameplay is FAR superior to CoD4. The tone, flavor, artistic design, and pace are pretty much flawless. Not to mention the campaign is a whole lot longer then CoD4.It still remains my favorite 360 gameto date. It kicks the sh!t out of Halo 3.
I am in the same boat, but im also getting crysis, super mario galaxy, and assassins creed next week. So, is gears of war good enough to buy? how long is the campaign compared to like HL2 and Quake 4?
I don't know if Ishould even get a game this week of not, considering that im spending 150 bucks nextweek most likely. I was gunna get CoD4, but I've heard the campaign is sooo short and I played the demo so I kinda know how it plays.
I guess ill think about gears now.

I don't really have any basis for comparing the lengths of campaigns between GoW, HL2, and Q4. But I will tell you that GoW has better gameplay then Q4. Half-Life 2 is hard to beat simply because of what it is, but I'd say GoW is definitely worth getting if you don't have the 360 version.
I am trying to decide between crysis and gearsTehgiggles
If you got the hardware for it, I say Crysis, otherwise get GoW.

Good enough for u?
OMG 62 FPS IS HEAVEN!
I just played GoW on 360 beginning to end SP, I have to say it was a very satisfying ~8 hours. Me and a friend rented at 12 started playing at 1:30 ate dinner and finished at 10:20. The chainsaw bayonet was awesome and the cover emphasis in the game with the pop out technique is refreshing. The reload mechanism is also pretty cool although i wish the mapped it to the fire trigger as well when out of bullets.
Before playing i was really debating GoW or CoD4 for my bucks. After playing it I can say it was a great experience, but I don't know how it would hold up in the PC arena. I would have to say that I wouldn't see myself playing it over and over again in SP or MP for that long, i've already kinda tired of it (maybe it's the 8 straigth hours of play).
CoD4's play is immersive and very intense in the SP. I can only imagine the single player after getting more experience.
I think CoD4 will prove more for yourmoney in the long run. I am gonna pick up The Orange Box soon as well... portal...ep2...TF2....droools.
when GOW came out, it had the best graphics period. i think it still has the record for most copies sold unless bioshock beat it. GOW is better because you can play the campaign online with no lag. COD 4 is better because the graphics are realistic, AI's are brilliant and eventho there's not that much levels, you will break a sweat playing it on hard. i would say.. get COD 4. and this is coming from a die-hard GOW fan
Yes, I play it again.
After you finish it you unlock arcade mode, in which you earn points for killing dudes. It sucks.
I play it again because you have laptops in every level, and by collecting them you unlock funny cheats. I didn't figured this out the first time, so now I'm searching them.
And some levels are very cool, they are worth playing again. But no more than two times.
I like GOW better, and I'm sure I'll play it again many, many times. It's awesome, just awesome. Literally kicks ass.
uh hello, does anyone played COD4 MP? just want to askif the MP got any AI bot to play offline?
i dont have internet connection so if i cant play it offline beside story mode it will be a waste for me.

No bots.
Back to topic. CoD4 is shorter than GoW SP. But CoD4 is better than GoW SP. Well until you get to the crazy level where you have to wait for a helicopter with an injured sniper. That level has got to be the worst level I have ever played period.
Even if you dont like multiplayer still you should play cod4.It will be five hours to remember.
However gears of war is also a fantastic game and is not very short either. Both the games are graphical powerhouses in their own right.
