Im planning on going to college this september and i was wondering if the laptops off of cyberpowerpc.com and ibuypower.com were good. I might wanna do a bit of gaming, but not to much.

I was wondering if this laptophttp://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Xplorer_X7-7500_Gaming_Notebook/would be good, or if theres something better out there for a similar price? Thanks :D

If you buy a clevo I recommend buying from Xotic, they go under as Sager over there. Also build qualities on Clevos is better than Asus, atleast I have found them to be.

My sager np8130 is lovely (clevo p151hm1). Very modddable too, you can access everything, gpu, cpu, all with removing 4 screws, it's very nice. Also warranty is not void for changing parts like CPU and GPU or changing BIOS.

The Clevos have an excellent build quality, but the Asus is no slouch. If you do want it for college though, you may want to reconsider getting a full on gaming notebook since they tend to be heavy and very large. If you do want to go down that path though, then consider: -Asus G53SW -Sager NP8130 -MSI GT680/683

For $1050 you can get this:HP dv6-6190, plus a free xbox 360. (with a .edu adress or proof of enrollment in college)

It is a little smaller (which is better for college anyway) but it has the same resolution screen, processor and ram and a very similar graphics card. Plus it has a blu-ray player, and could be 200-250 dollars less if you sell the xbox 360.

What are you going to use the laptop for? Will it leave your dorm/apt? What's your budget? It's hard to recommend anything specifically for you without any details... The behemoth you linked to could be perfect, it could also be a huge mistake. For that price though I bought an XPS 15 and I'm mostly happy with it

Don't go with a gaming laptop. They're heavy, their battery life sucks, the build quality isn't always the best and their keyboards+trackpads are generally awful -- you couldn't pick a worse laptop for use at school. Either get something more well-rounded like the HP DV6, Dell XPS 15 or Alienware M11x, or if you're really concerned about gaming performance get yourself a nice budget mini-ITX/mATX desktop and a netbook for taking to class/the library.

Yeah I have gone all those routes. I have a netbook a 13 in laptop a 12 in laptop a 17 in laptop and a 15in laptop, and even a 14 in laptop. I disagree with your post, the np8130 is not heavy, much lighter than my old asus g2s. Build quality is nice on here some people don't like the keyboard/touchpad but I think it's fine. Also battery life is 3 hours which I call pretty gud. For just school I'd say a 14in laptop is perfect, but there is a massive difference in performance between 14 and 15.6
