Sierra Closing Down 21 Games Servers

Sierra Entertainment has announced that they'll be closing down 21 game servers on November 1st. It's uncertain if these closures are related to the recent Activision Blizzard merger or if the games are just too old to support any longer. Either way, there's a few ****cs getting shut down. Here's the full list:

• Alien vs Predator 2
• Arcanum
• Caesar IV
• Dark Reign 2
• Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom
• Empire Earth
• Empire Earth 2
• Empire Earth: Age of Conquest
• Ground Control
• Ground Control2
• Homeworld
• Homeworld: Cataclysm
• Nolf2
• Red Baron
• Sanity
• Star Trek: Armada
• SWAT3: EE
• SWAT3: GOTY
• The Incredible Machine

Huh... so is it shutting down actual gaming servers or rather the master one that checks the cd key and stuff? I think I'll assume the later if so...does it mean you don't need a cd-key to play online anymore? Cause I'm gonna assume people that manage public servers are still going to keep them open.

None the less I think each community of each individual game will figure something out, they always do! As long as a game is REMOTELY good, it'll never die I tells ya!

If they are anything like the old Valve (pre-steam) multiplayer games, you can't play online at all without the Master Server being up, as it provides the server list as well as checking CD-Keys; so you wouldn't be able to find any servers to play (easily anyway).

Or at least I think that's how it goes.

Damn... i used to play a lot of EE and AVP2, still do sometimes, it's really sad :(

Wait.. "The incredible machine" Server? What the hell did the server serve anyway? As far as I can remember, this game did'nt have any MP?
