Looks like Commodore is aiming to be a new player in the high-end PC market. Sorta funny, I wasn't really expecting them to come back. Let alone with a Gaming PC.

Legendary Videogames Brand to Launch New Breed of Gaming PC

London, March 2007: Commodore Gaming today announces that CeBIT 2007 will see the launch of a new breed of gaming PC as the legendary Commodore brand returns to the world of computer and video games hardware with the highest specifications available for gamers.

Bala Keilman, CEO for Commodore Gaming, commented "25 years ago, Commodore launched the best selling personal computer of the late 20th Century, the C64, and defined the early computer games experience for millions of people worldwide. We are privileged and excited to bring the Commodore brand back to the gaming community and mark a new chapter in its history with this exceptional machine. We're sure that it will deliver what gamers need and want."

The new range of optimised Gaming PCs will be launched at the CeBIT show in Hannover, Germany, on 15th March, offering people the chance to play the high performance purpose-built machines with the latest PC games.

Commodore Gaming will be making further announcements at the launch, and the company promises there are some very exciting aspects of the product still to be revealed.

It is just a branding agreement. :( I want a new Amiga, going to have to go dust off my trusty A500 now. Oh the sweet memories.

I agree it's like a *bleep* use of a name that was once dignified IMHO :)

All those great games that ran on 64K instead of 2GB... A time when EA actually made games.... Oh those were the days!

Sigh I miss the commodore days when I could just walk half a block down the road and Tandy and Commodore had competing shops right next to each other. Oh the games were simplistic yet fun.

My first computer.  Spent $300 to UPGRADE the ram to 1MB, had to load the OS (Workbench) from 720kb floppies.  The sweet sound of dot matrix.  For the time, it was a sweet gaming machine.  The first machine I ever saw draw polygons.  I had nearly arcade perfect versions of Outrun, Rampage, and Arkanoid.  And nearly 20 years later, it still works.

This is where I got it from: http://www.remix64.com/page_nr_734.html I can see why they aren't launching a successor to the Amiga. The home computer format has been rendered obsolete. But I hope they can bring something new to the Gaming PC market.
