Comp is screwing up

So i just got my comp back yesterday from being wiped (i get it wiped every year) and all is fine till today i boot up it fine everything is working internet, wow etc. so i turn it off for a minute then turn it back on my desktop shows up everything seems fine till i hear a noise from my comp and my computer freezes i can still move the mouse but not click anything it will sit there for a while un freeze a second then do it again ive restarted my comp many times and it still does it, it has never done this for the 5yrs ive had it any idead :?

You didn't format the HDD yourself? If this a clean install, it certainly sounds like something wrong, most likely either with the reinstall or a hardware problem.

You didn't format the HDD yourself? If this a clean install, it certainly sounds like something wrong, most likely either with the reinstall or a hardware problem.Luminouslight

my uncle did it he has done it for me everytime, could it be ram i just bought a 1gb of ram about a month ago they worked fine till now if thats the case

Well, if you want to determine if the RAM irmine if the RAM is at fault, then it would be s at fault, then it would be best to boot memtest off a floppy or flash drive. However, I generally chase after software problems before I start looking into hardware faults.

i just phoned my uncle he said hes been using a pirate copy of windows xp SP3 everytime hes wiped my comp is this why? should i buy a real copy? if so do they still sell windows xp...

i doubt that's the problem,check your hard drives for errors with the windows tool

Have you tryed launching explorer.exe from taskmanager? Just a thought.
