So I've been hearing a LOT about this game and just noticed that at gogamer.com, the CoH Gold Edition is $30! Should I pick it up? I'll be honest. I'm pretty much a n00b when it comes to RTS games (just picked up WarCraft 3 Battlechest, my very first RTS, about 2 months ago) and I've heard that this game should only be attempted by RTS veterans. Also, from what I've seen so far, the general community seems to hate on n00bs almost as much as the people in CS:S. :P

you should definatley get it, just go through the tutorial and practise at skirmish before you play online, and jsut play on low stats player servers if its too hard.

and an another thing that might be good to know is that it is not so much like other RTS games and more like Wargames like combat mission

This may be a stretch, but it's a bit like Full Spectrum Warrior crossed with StarCraft, set in WWII of course.

From my experience CoH is a MUCH more solid game than World in Conflict. I think mostly because there is a stronger emphasis on tactics, and over all is more exciting to play.

Company of Heroes is way better than World in Conflict. It's deeper and it looks better. But I can't recommend it to someone who hasn't played RTS games a lot because it's difficult and intense, you have to think fast and such.

Do you like RTSs that require more strategy and attention to detail? Yes = Yes, No = No

Personally I love the game.

coh is absolutely fantastic. i've played coh and opposing fronts for nearly 150 hours and there are still many strategies that i havent tried online. i can still see myself putting 100 hours more. the real deal is trying to beat level 7+ players online. the gameplay is very very deep and requires quite a bit of patience. its extremely satisfying when it all comes together and you win.

Fantabulous game. Best RTS I've played in years (tied with WiC, maybe a little better than it, but they're different types of games so it's hard to compare). Real fun, exciting tactical gameplay, fantastically destructible maps, and 4 unique factions. Great game, I really recommend it for any RTS fan.
