Company of Heroes (Vanilla) vs. The Witcher

I have decided to create a poll to decide which game to purchase. It is a very tough decision.

The other Option is to wait for Assassins Creed which is being released here in Australia first!

What do you like most, RPGs or RTSs? You can't really compare those two games at all.

Get an RPG then. Witcher is a good place to start. Seriously though, you have played RPGs before? Like, who has not?

Well, I think they all have demos. I personally enjoyed CoH campaign, and usually in RTS Games im one of those "skirmish and online" players only (besides WC3) so it was pretty amazing for me to actually keep my attention span in the single player of an RTS game.

I said I haven't bought an RPG before: I had System Shock 2 as you know, and I have played several RPG demos of course, but I can't really think of any other RPG games that I have bought.

I personally would go with CoH. The Witcher is pewpy! Well actually, I've never played it, but CoH is a lot of fun. I loved making a skirmish on the map Lyon, then I would pick infantry as my special point thingy. Then when you get like 5 points, you can build Howitzer cannons and they have a barrage thing that destroys EVERYTHING. I would make like 5 artys then bomb the crap out of the enemy for the last half hour of the match.

Edit: Don't buy assasins creed

Seriously, once you kill the first target you've seen the whole game. Literally.

Thank you for your contribution. Just a word of advice though: Don't dismiss The Witcher before playing it as I did. It is a cool action game with considerable charm.

i haven't played comapny of heroes but i have played the intro of the witcher.

if i were in your shoes, i'd pick CoH because RTSs give more enjoyable game time imo.

sure RPGs can consume a lot of hours too, but frankly with a game like the witcher, just how many times do you want to play through as geralt? obvoiusly you can make different decisions if you play again and stuff like that, but i say CoH! and i understand there are only two sides, but REd Alert 2 had two sides and i kid you not i spent so much time on that game, it's pretty funny.

anyway, that's my verse in a poem of suggestions.

Assassin's Creed? I never said it's bad really, it's just repetitive. I enjoyed it on 360, but I only played about halfway through before gettting bored.

When does a game become an RPG?

That would take a long time to explain, I don't think I want to go into that right now. Let's just say dialog and role-playing is pretty important.

Completely different games but I'd recommend CoH. I was not that impressed by the Witcher. It has a very simplistic combat system which makes it (to me at least) very dull. Basically point, click, and wait. Kind of like Neverwinter Nights minus the strategy of controlling a whole party.

Honesly if you're a serious gamer it's a crime to miss either CoH or The Witcher. They're both landmark genre advancing games in their respective niches. If you really need a criteria to make a decision assess how important multiplayer is to you. CoH has some of the greatest MP known to the internet while The Witcher has none. The Witcher is like kicking back and slipping into the depressing world of eastern European literature... in a fantasy setting.

The Witcher, duh. Even you said you like it.

Company of Heroes is Dawn of War + a territory mechanic, which means if some resource nods aren't connected with your base they don't generate anything, and minus generals and quirky races. Since you didn't like DoW, don't buy CoH.

And there's always a third option: Jade Empire.

The third option is to wait for AC and i only played the demo of DOW. I still happen to like COH.

Does Australia dare defy the capitalist principles of supply and demand? Try online retailers, d2d or steam.

Vampire Bloodlines? Runs on the source engine.

If ever you can't remember the exact name just type a keyword like Vampire into the search thing on gamespot. Its really useful.

I am not comparing them my good sir. I think that is the mistake that I have made with this post.

...*Pauses*... First you need to get KotoR 1/2 screw the Witcher (no offense) but seriously KotoR=GOD secound of all CoH and OF are awesome but so is DoW;...Pick up DC (Dark Crusade) to see if you enjoy how it plays and such if so then get the rest of the series...

Bloody hell, you have not played Kotor?????

Play. It.

It's a turnbased game. So no, no real time lightsabre combat. The combat is fantastic imo, but some would disagree. It's like Fallout combat, either you love it or you hate it.

One question. Are you a fan of Star Wars? If yes, run and buy it now. If not, buy it anyway. Get it cheap or whatever, there is a reason people went bananas over the Kotor 3 rumour. It's a fantastic game with a great story.
