To the OP... Or did you pay for their really expensive services?

The hell? How is your Comcast Internet that fast? IS that Comcast work?

Anyway I don't care about download speed nearly as much as Upload Speed anyway.

Here's mine

So when you continuously download a file how fast does it go? Because Comcast's PowerBoost doesn't really make these results valid.

Uh yeah it is very easy to get caught. Look at their bandwidth usage lol. Which they do check, Comcast does a lot. Also if you get caught, you get charged with theft :X

lol you appearently never looked into how its done, you change the mac address to someone who is already a paying customer, so u got 2 of the same macs in diff locations, they cant catch u unless physically they know you are doing it.

then if you are really going overboard you make the modem not register with their server or something liek that, i havent gotten too far into the whole details but my friend has, there is a site dedicated to this stuff, and i read about it. its really clever

I thought you are talking about the way, when you get the image file from your isp's TFTP server and then change your speed.

lol no then ur sure to get caught they found a way to get around the whole thing so the isp wont be able to track them. the way i explained with the mac lets you not only set the speed you want, but also internet is free

they really don't want to catch anyone for 2 main reasons:

First of all, when someone is caught, that person will definately make noises and will probably be published as a news story. This will make it publicly known to more people that it is very possible to uncap, etc., leading more people to research ways to achieve this, contrary to the cable companies belief that they could 'make an example' out of someone.

Second, if they mess with the wrong person, that person may retaliate by initiating a multi-million dollar cla$$ action lawsuit against the companies for unfairly billing people for overage bandwidth usage. As an example, Joe Blow gets a $200 bill for massive amounts of usage, however Joe Blow was on vacation in Hawaii that month. He argues with the company and they eventually forgive him and deduct the charges. Yet, many people blindly pay whatever these greedy, sinister companies charge them, mostly through pre-authorized payments, and never look twice.
So, in a court of law, it would be extremely easy to prove to the judge and jury that thousands of customers may have been unfairly and illegaly charged for usage they did not do, all because the cable companies made it easy for hackers to exploit the accounts of others.
In the end, it would be the cable companies fault for not securing their systems.

To secure the DOCSIS system against the type of stuff that is done is extremely expensive. Many, many, many times more expensive than any bandwidth hackers will ever consume.

 it should be 1024/256 but my modem is a crappy old Aztech usb modem. The best bit is that we're paying about $68 dollars! Gotta love the U.A.E. (\sarcasm)

[QUOTE="vgm007"] It's Verizon FiOS... advertised at 20Mbps down / 5Mbps up.

I wish fios was in my area, I'd grab their 20/20 in 5 seconds, that upload speed sounds so dreamy :)
