I really enjoy games with some competitiveness (sp?) to it. Like a ladder and clan system. I have not been into pc gaming for a long time now and don't really know whats out there. Any suggestions of games with a really active clan and ladder system?

most of the fps games out there now have CAL or TWL ladders and you can always find clans in those. RTS games, such as Company of Heroes, have some clans (I'm not to positive[probably more located in europe]), but they do have a ladder system built in most of the time.

What genre are you looking into? RTS, FPS, MMO?

Company of Heroes is one of the most competitive games I've played in a while, or atleast have played very competitively. There is a ranking system, but you may have trouble finding a clan.

i never really played MMO before and don't have much interest in them like WoW and such. RTS and FPS are my favorite genres to play on pc. I have played CS before but it was more for fun. Any suggestions in them genres? maybe something in MMO?

It's too bad you felt that way about it. CS is probably the most competitive fps ever.

I liked it a lot and have 1.6 and CS:S but getting in a clan and finally doing CAL matches just seem so difficult to me.

FiercE23

  1. Supreme Commander & the stand alone expansion Forged Alliance
  2. Sins of the Solar Empire
  3. Warhammer 40K : Dawn of War and all expansions
  4. Civilization IV & all expansions
  5. Rome Total War series
  6. Galactic Civilization II & Dark Avatar

I highly recommend Supreme Commander : Forged Alliance if your looking for Ladders, Clans and great on-line play with a strong and growing community.

Also, I do realize that a few I mentioned are turned based, but you may want to check those out too. There are other games in the RTs and TBS genre that are really good also, but these may head you in the right direction. I'm sure other people will make suggestions for any FPS, which there are many.

...nothing more competitive than UT. Get UT2k4 or UT3. Practice TDM and 1on1. Then join a clan.

You might like crysis if you got a nice computer. (doesn't need to be a quad core, at least mid range dual core though & nice graphics card) they have online that looks pretty nice.

Take a look for yourself:

http://www.teamwarfare.com/ladderlist.asp

Or

http://www.caleague.com/

(look on the right, where it says "Choose Division" for the games list)
