Competitive / original multiplayer game recommendations

So im looking to buy a game, hopefully with addictive multiplayer and a reasonably active community (atleast 2 full servers daily)and was hoping you guys could recommend me a good one. The game doesnt have to be brand spankin new either, or of any particular genre... Just quality gameplay with a good online community I've been searching high and low for a game to sieze my attention for longer than a day and I just cant seem to make up my mind, so your input would be greatly appreciated. Couple games I play right now: Ultima Online, Myth 2: soulblighter, Red Orchestra... Also,I have a top notch computer so that wont be a problem. Thank You

I've started playing Tribes: Ascend recently, and I'm having a blast with it. Check it out, it's free for the time being.

Quake Live. Tier 4 is extremely competitive.

Do you want a huge open world fps with a heavy emphasis on multiplayer and realism? Arma 2.

You might want to look at GGPO.net if you like old arcade fighters, Otherwise I dunno.
