I used to be able to play both COD games. WAW and MW. Not now. The ping is so high it is rediculus. I have gotten the latest patch for WAW and STEAM says it is not a mod they would handle. They don't "handle" anything below that either. They don't seem to be handling anything.

Dont say anything bad about steam on these forums, or any dislikes for pc gaming, pc gaming is only to be worshiped here. You will be flamed.

COD WAW And MW (the first not the second)do not use the steam servers (VAC), so steam has nothing to do with the games ping. Maybe its your connection and you have to dl the patchs through steam, and they should be set to auto-update.

If you manually patched WaW that is probably your problem. MW2 on the other hand is just inherently laggy. try reinstalling.

It's probably a problem on your end if your ping so suddenly got worse. Also do not try patching your games, Steam does all of that automatically for 99.9% of the games.

Yeah, I wonder why *looks at the forum title "PC & MAC games"*, I have no idea why somebody would praise PC games around here. Anyway reinstall the game, if you patched it with any type of patch then you clearly did something since Steam already updated your game.

Thanks to all for your advice. I knew in the end it would be construed as being my fault.............Before I ever downloaded the patch the game went "high ping" on me. STEAM did not prevent that by keeping up the updates. I will dig up the game and use it to play multiplayer instead of STEAM. Sad though. STEAM should keep it's promises.

You sir are confusing. A) i have both of those games on steam B) they both auto update to the latest version without any manual user downloading or installing. C) my ping has nothing to do with steam. You can hate steam but saying steam made your ping bad is like complaining that its the theme park's fault that your obesity is keeping you from enjoying the rides. One has nothing to do with the other ... and thus the blame is missplaced. Big beefs of steam are the forced updates and the lack of bandwidth capping among other things ... not causing games to lag lul ...
