I am planning in getting a relatively inexpensive pc and then outfit it with a 8800 gt video card, but I have read people talking about the importance of sound cards. So, I am wondering about the importance of also buying a high quality sound card. I thought as long as you have speakers or headphones and can hear sound on your pc, your sound should be fine. thank you for your help.

Depends on how important sound is to you. If you listen to a lot of music, watch movies, and like playing your music loud, those are some reasons you'd want a sound card. If you play games here or there and whatnot then it's best to use the mobo's sound and save some money.

Well, I just got a new pc and I also got a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE ( about $30 on newegg ) and I was hearing sounds in BF2 that I had never heard before, so I guesse you could try that out.
