Ok, so due to my monitor not having a component input, it's getting a little complicated to set up a capture cards, here's what I have.

PS3 > Component Cable > Into Black Magic Intensity Pro > Component out to monitor via either a Component to VGA cable, or into a VGA/component adapter. VGA preferred as the DVI is in use, I could use it if necessary though. > And lastly audio out to my speakers.

My main concern is, do component > Vga cables actually work? I've heard alot about HDMI >component cables not working due to digital / analog conversions, so yeah... thoughts?

VGA is analogue. Though this seems an extremely pricy method, it would be cheaper to get another monitor. This is only worth doing if you want to unify them to one box as a project or your actually going to use the pass through functionality (record, overlay, process ect).
