Is it possible to use them for component video since I don't need the audio or there's a signifiant difference between both?

A quality video cable (a 75 ohm single core cable with shielding) is a component cable, but audio composite cables (not 75 ohms and with 2 twisted cable construction) are different and shouldn't be used for video.

3 composite video cables are the same as component. Generally, as long as it's a 75 ohm cable, you're fine.

Yeah, this is correct. Composite Video cables have the same 75-0hm coax design as component cables. The only difference is the number of cables used for component signal and the way they are color coded. Don't use the Audio cables that are often attached to the composite Video cable though. They are 300 ohm. They can be used in a pinch but should be replaced right away.

3 composite video cables of 75 ohms are equivalent to component, but he states he doesn't need the audio so I think he's referring to a standard A/V cable in which case the 2 audio cables should not be used in place of component video cables.

Yes, you can use composite, component, subwoofer interconnects, and digital audio cables interchangeably.

Just to clarify, you can NOT use audio interconnects, but video, subwoofer and digital audio cables are interchangeable.
