Probably overheating if it was a long session, likely the CPU or GPU, download a program called HW Monitor and keep an eye on your temperatures, also post your system specs.

My Specs are

CPU:AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ 2.10GHz

RAM:2GB

HDD:1TB

GPU:ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro

PSU:400w

I know its not that great for gaming but on starcraft 2 i get like 50-30 fps on low

It sound like a heat problem. First clean the inside of your computer (remove the dust from the fans and so on). Then if it still continue you might have a fault piece of hardware.

Again, it's probably a heat problem, and the computer shut down to avoid any damage to your hardware. If you have anything overclocked I suggest removing it, as well as upgrading your cooling solutions. Use the programs suggested above to monitor your temps, and you should be alright.
