Computer geeks I need your help!!!!

I've been wondering. What's Anti-ailiasing and why is there a 2X 6X and so on with it? Also what's V-Sync? I've been playing PC games for years and I've yet to learn what that stuff really is. PlasmaBeam44

Put simply, Anti aliasing smoothes out the jagged edges you see, the higher = more smooth, but at the cost of FPS.

V-synch makes the monitor and G card in synch, verticle synch. Makes it so you dont see that ripple or tear effect when moving around with the mouse.

And there are higher amounts of samples because the higher you go the less jaggies there are, you wouldn't wana be limited to 2x for example. There's nothing wrong with being a geek... you can't have one without the other. If you know computers to the extent that you can help someone like this you're definitely a geek... not that there's anything wrong with that. :D
