Hello.

I'm having a problem with my sound card. It says that something, like headphones or speakers, are plugged into my laptop. But there isn't.

Because of this, I cannot hear anything through my laptop speakers.

FYI. the sound card does work. When I do plug in my headphones I can hear like there is no tomorrow. But like I stated before, once I unplugged them, my laptop is still reading that they are plugged in.

I hope this makes sense....

Can't you just disable the headphones in the sound settings?

Right click on the sound tab/Playback/then right click on the headphones and disable them.

What kind of drivers are you using? If you're using the driver from the manufacturer, you may want to try a generic Microsoft driver. I know some Creative sound cards have the jet detection feature, which detects when a headset is plugged in.
