Well, my pc is kind of dead. I was wondering, this Christmas should I buy a new premade PC (alienware, etc) or build? The chances of me building are minimal to non-existant, because I have nobody to build it for me and I'm not allowed to order online unless I find someone.

I play many games, and I use editing software like Sony Vegas and Adobe After Effects. Would anybody recommend a good, high-end recent PC that's around 1500 to 1700$?

Actually is 5000$ with shipping and tax lol. Its insane, but to the TC. I highly suggest you buy a Prebuild Pc on Newegg.com Or Cyberpowerpc.com. I only reccomend that you build your own PC if you know how to build the Pc. Although if you know a Computer Store near your house then you can give them the parts so they can built it. It will cost some money tho but you will save money overall. This is what I did.

I checked a computer on Newegg.com that is prebuilt which was 1200$ I am able to built the exact same one for 980(estimate) and 50 for builting it at the computer store across the street from my house

Pre-build if you don't know what you're doing; Build it yourself otherwise.

HAHAHA! I feel you man, It just wonders me how they could sleep at night knowing they spent that much money and it wasn't worth it, personally I would call the store/site the moment I find out that it doesn't perform as I want.

I forgot what it was, but at best buy I saw a computer for 1400 dollars that had 6-8 Gigs of ram, a 1 gig video card and it had a lot of Hard Disk space. I only remember that it is from Gateway. I would recommend going to a local store and getting one.

There customer support isn't all that great. I once ordered from their website a computer Aurora and it came with a 9600, 2gb, and some other bad stuff which was not worth it. I hated it and so I kept caling asked for a refund as I had 30 days, but it wouldn't respond. I had to wait 2weeks for them to say okay that a good reason. I mean I dont need a reason, I have warranty and 30 guarantee my money back.

Calling them is also bad because the answer machine always answers. You had to wait 36hours for them to call you back. It horrible

Can you read? I said there were no shops or anything that would build it for me, and because of that my mom won't order any parts. She wants somebody else to build it, not me.

And this one looks good, will this last me a long time and will it be able to run many games at maximum settings while keeping a good framerate?

Big ripoff. Take this one which is the same price if you change the Gtx260 with 2x 9800gtx which will equal to 1306$. BTW change the case to Raidmax Sagitta II Mid-Tower 420W Gaming Case w/ Side-Panel Window. This case is very good. The rabate will pay for tax and other stuff. Good luck

...yes, you did. I don't see what's wrong here. I would have credited you or something but I didn't think it would matter.

And it shouldn't.

Anyways, thanks for the link Beserker1_5, I don't know if they ship to Canada but I'll look into it. I also found this that has the GeForece 9800.

That computer is a rip off. It weaker then the computer I showed yo ubecause the ocmputer I showed you gives you 9800GTX+ and another one, the one you choosed has 2x 9800gtx. Which are two different card. Alltogether the computer i give you the link for is better, 330+ cheaper adn it comes with 3year labor warranty & 1yr labor parts warranty. I recommend to try shipping that computer from CPPC.com to another location in USA and from there to Canada.

BTW, yes they do ship to canada

Definitely go for newegg.com or tigerdirect.com and make sure you read up and pick the right parts though. I just built a pc for the first time and it took some troubleshooting but was overall pretty easy. You feel so much more satisfied after you build your own rig and get all brand name parts and awesome upgradability. I had my cousin helping me though and it took only like 3 hours to assemble my new baby :D.

Are you kidding me? You're the worst one in this topic. Going into random topics and posting stuff barely cohesent with the topic at hand is not being helpful, it's called being a spammer.

Thanks zaku101 for the link!

whether your building a computer or buying one i recommend getting one that has an intel quadcore Q9550 or Q9650.  get a motherboard the has a front side bus of 1333 to 1600.  at least 4GB of DDR2 ram, best would be to get 8GBs of ram (try getting DDR3 ram). now nvidia has great graphics cards dont get me wbrotherrong but i have seen the "Radeon ATI 4870 HD X2" and all i can tell you is WOW! visuals are great crisp and clean. great for gaming. now on the adobe after effects side it works great (being that you have the parts described above). i dont know about after effects CS3 but after effects CS4 has this option where you can choose how much ram you want to use or CPU (meaning processors) to render and preview your video project. there is also an option where you can tap into your graphics card and use the ram that your graphics card has.  it improves the playback greatly so you can view your effects that you have added on to your video without any horrible lag and chopp movements.  hope this helps! ohhh and another thing you should try a fry's electronics.  they can build you a computer.  hope this helps. later!
