The problem started out of the blue, the computer randomly restarts (with no BSOD) and wont boot windows again. It'll get to the loading screen and either freeze there or restart and do it all over. It does the same when I go to safe mode, or try to reinstall, or use a different HDD. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? It's making me tear my hair out :(.

MY specs are:
AMD phenom II x2 550 BE
4gb Patriot Sec. 5 viper II RAM
ATI HD 4890 1024mb
coolermaster 600w
asus m4a785td-v evo

Thanksto anyone who can help.

You could try repairing XP if you still have the XP disk.

I was running windows 7 and when I go to repair it'll 'load the files' and restart again.

One possibility is faulty RAM. Try it with just one stick in at a time to try and rule that out.

Try to reinstall windows. If in the middle of the installation progress it stopped i guess you have a faulty ram. Try to check your ram if it is working. Also try not to attached the video cable to the video adapter of the motherboard instead of the video card.
