So, after I finished building my computer I started to install Vista. Almost at the end of installation, my computer simply turned off (my dad was around the power button, so we're thinking he bumped it...ugh). Windows was not finished installing. Now, whenever I turn on the computer a message pops up saying:

"The computer unexpectedly restarted or had an unexpected error. Windows cannot proceed with installation. Click OK to restart your computer and then restart installation."

So I clicked OK, but when the computer restarted it took me right back to the same error and keeps doing it over and over. Is there anyway I can delete all the Vista files and reinstall it or at least somehow just fix this problem?

I'm having lots of problems with this computer...I thought installing the software would be the easiest part.

EDIT: The reinstallation failed again. Right before the installation was about to be complete, the computer would simply turn off completely and it keeps doing this. Help once again!

P.S. Sorry for all of these questions today guys, I'm just wanting to get this computer done as fast as possible. You've all been a great help so far, so hopefully you can help me get through this once again.

Enter your bios (hit delete on first startup blackscreen) and make sure you yet your primary boot to CD/DVD. Then restart and when it asks you to boot from CD/DVD hit any button and you'll be able to start the installation from scratch.

It may be because your computer goes into standby during installation since there is a long period of inactivity and never comes back correctly. You can fix this by flipping off and then back on the power supply. I think it requires some input from you during installation so just in case you might not wanna take a bathroom break during the installation.

i worked out what it was for me, my CPU cooler wasnt connected properly. Its my first build so i could only refer to pics on the net and it all looked ok. i had a look through bios after the restart and it was around 85, so when more installing got thrown its way it went over and the system switched it off to prevent it getting too much damage.
Good job its only an old P4 im using as a stop gat until July 22!
