Is it all AVIs, or just ones using a particular video codec? And, does it happen with other video files?

Sounds like the first place to start is your video/audio drivers. Uninstall, then reinstall both, then download the latest versions from the manufacturer's website and update them. Just in case one of them is currently corrupt. Next, uninstall/reinstall your media player, update it as well. Finally, give your DirectX drivers the once over, making sure they're current/functioning. Good luck. :D

Yeah, if you like to overreact to drivers problems But seriously just uninstall everything and re-install it. And if all else fails, just re-install Windows XP. If that fails then yeah you could be looking into hardware issues.

Vista says: "This problem was caused by NVIDIA Graphics Driver. This program was created by NVIDIA Corporation. NVIDIA Corporation does not currently have a solution for the problem that you reported."

I have re-installed the drivers still no luck.. The driver wasthe XPversion..I tried installing the vista one from the site but it doesnt think my computer is running vista.. Maybe i need to just re-install windows..
