It only happens while playing World in Conflict and the Crysis demo. I am going to totaly outrule RAM tonight, by running Memtest all night. I am hoping its the PSU and not my new graphics cards (Yes I know it's most likely them 8800 Gt's). Still they seemed to work fine for a couple of days before I started to encounter this error.

Anyway when it happens it seems as if the cord as been totaly pulled from the back of the computer. Could be overheating, but it would have to be the graphics cards overheating, because no other hardware has changed.

Any advice would be welcomed.

Thanks.

Thats the wierd thing, no artifacting. The 8800 GT's are hot cards though. Which that leads me to thinking its the power supply. I ran memtest for an hour and no errors, so I dont think its that. Although I could be mistaken, because I didn't run it that long. Hence me running it tonight.

I am about to go out on a limb and get a new PSU, but not with a little investigation first. I'm thinking of getting a nice ULTRA X3 800 WATT PSU.

I'm using an OCZ 700 WATT. I dont think thats the problem anymore, I think its the graphics card overheating.

I'm going to buy two new aftermarket coolers for each one of my graphics cards tommorow. Hopefully that will fix, if it doesn't then its likely the PSU. The new coolers will be welcomed even if it is thePSU,because I have a hot graphics card (literaly and figuratively).

Anyway thats it until tommorow, goodnight.

Well 80 Degrees Celsius, while playing crysis for a little bit. I expect that to get higher the longer I play, hence the system shuttingdown.

...and thank you for the recomendation, I will look up that cooler. For now though I have my eyes set on the Thermaltake Duorb.

what are your temps after 30+ minutes of crysis playing? Also, those cards are made to run fine at temps way above 80 degrees Celsius, so unless they are running insanely hot that's probably not the problem.

Try upping the fan speed on them with rivatuner though, at 40% its still very quiet.

PS: You have the latest drivers etc...power cables are plugged into the cards...all the really basic stuff?

Yes, now I am starting to lean back towards the PSU. Sounds like what one of the previous guys had.

Hmm, if you thing it's the PSU, don't go for the Ultra. They churn out cheaply made crap that doesn't belong on the market. They reason people buy their power supplies is simple. They have a lot of chrome on them and they claim to put out a lot of power for a low price. Don't buy into the hype if you want your PC parts to not get toasted.

i found the Solution !!!!! Very Easy One! it is the Bios SETUP! YES! in section "PC Health" you will find option for temperature warning. this makes your pc shuts down instead of giving you a warning. Raise the warning temp! that is it!!! (my warning was at 60. i raised it to 70)
