hey, well I feel as though my computer is significanly underperforming, this is my rig:

XFX 5870 1024MB

3.2GhZ Q6600

3GB RAM

and Win7 64-bit

I get 30-40 fps on BFBC2 on med-high settings (no HBAO or Bloom)

In Oblivion I get 60+ indoors whilst 20-30 outdoors?

(Crysis 2 I get 30-40fps on Hardcore and about 60+ on gamer)

any help?

(all my gaming is usually on 1650 by 1050 res)

That does seem a bit low for your system. What driver version are you running? Has your PC always performed like this with the current parts? What make and model is your PSU (power supply)? What motherboard are you using, and is your PCI-Express slot running at full x16 speed?

Thanks for the reply, yes, on GPU-Z it says: 'PCI-E 2.0 x16 @16x 2.0' I have 650w Corsair, and my computer's basically an xps 420 with win7, a 5870 and a new psu,

and I just downloaded the latest 11.5 drivers off ATI website (a couple of days or so)

Is it still in a standard Dell case? Has it got good enough cooling? There's always a chance it could be overheating.

yeah, it's still in it's XPS case, but I check the temperatures and they seem fine, could it be the RAM or the XPS 420 MOBO?

did a test on BFBC2 the temp remained around 50-56 degrees C with 95 - 100% GPU usage

I get 20+ fps in Crysis when my computer's on the floor, I think I'll keep it there.

It is underperforming. My pc is the same except that I didn't overclock the CPU and I have windows 7 32bit. I can't tell you much about the other games since I don't remember, but I can pretty much max BC2 and have a better framerate. I think online I have to lower AA in order to have a better framerate though. In any case, your pc shouldn't be having any trouble on medium/high.

Edit: I play at the same resolution also.

Can you run the benchmark built into Crysis and tell me what you get?

I think you have to update your drivers. Look for updates to your graphics card, DirectX, and OS.

I've updated all my drivers, including the GPU, I even flashed the BIOS that made no difference.

I am guessing that you are using BETA drivers.

Did you download the drivers off the AMD website, are they WHQL?

Something is slowing your system down, as the other person asked, have you always had this problem, or is this recent?

Besides doing a total reinstall you should check your system for virii, also check task manager, maybe you've got something that's running and taking too much CPU time.

In many cases something like an antivirus doing a full system scan can hog the system and you won't get anything done elsewhere.

If all else fails, re do the whole system and get WHQL drivers,

Just checked your results page, just make sure your drivers are WHQL, it says not approved on 3D mark because of a different type of BS

If anyone else can check, why does his memory say @333Mhz, aren't RAMs clocked in at 1200+ nowadays

well, to answer your question, generally I think my computer has always been underperfoming, it's only recently I've actually noticed that's it's not playing games as well as it should be (before I thought this was the max I was going to get out of the system, but apparently it should be doing much better)

as for the drivers, no I can say that I have the 11.5 drivers from the ATI website and they are not beta, I just scanned recently for viruses using both AVG and Malwarebytes, no infections or anything.

in accordance to background programs, I've used Gamebooster, which made no impact by closing down unnecessary programs.

CPU-Z also says that my RAM is running at 333mhz, could that be the bottleneck?

I think I fixed it, what I did was I uninstalled all ATI drivers using Driver Sweeper, I then used the original installation disk and installed the driver off that, although it's an older driver version, it seemed to increase the performance of my GPU, cheers to those who replied.

My only thought is that you may be bottle necked by your ram. Your ram is DDR2-667 instead of DDR2-800 so you're losing some performance there. Secondly, more modern games benefit from more ram so maybe replacing your ram with 4-8GB of DDR2-800 will improve your performance. I've got almost the same system as your Q6600 with a 5850 so I'm going to run 3Dmark and post my results for comparisons.

My results are in line with yours, http://3dmark.com/3dm11/1320752 Since I score lower than you and don't have the FPS issues in BFBC2. My only thought is your lack of ram is hurting your performance in those games.
