Hey everyone i need your help i just tried to use a live CD of ubuntu 7.10 CD loaded up fine but then the computer rebooted itself and the display hasn't worked since i'm experiencing no POST, can't get into the bios, can't boot from DVD, I just stripped down the computer to minimal specs ie. 1 stick of ram, removed tv tuner, sound card, non-booting Hard drives, 2nd DVD drive still nothing i've reseated my 8800gt + motherboard doesn't beep so the 8800gt should be fine, I fear a fried motherboard or something horrible, please help me i'm at a loss, thanks everone

motherboard is a gigabyte P35-GA-DS3P

Vista home premium on C:/

let me know if you require more details

How do you mean? I booted without the video card inserted and the motherboard sounded.

So there must be some life in it additionally there is minor hard drive when it should be booting just no video at all

check the cables. make sure everything is inserted properly. Ram cpu, etc. Reset the Cmos and try again. determine what kind of beep messages you get and find out what's going on. Try unplugging everything but one stick of ram and the power 24 pin and 4 pin power connectors.

First thing to try is to reset the Cmos.

Hey guys I tried everything you suggested still no luck

the computer looks like it's booting fine except video (based off HDD activity)

should I try the warranty (6 months old)

Or should I take to plunge & just get a new board?

I have my eyes on a GA-X48-DS4 w/2x x16 slots (Future plans for 2x 4870x2's) $250AUD local

yeah try the warranty. Since you didn't do anything to the board.. it just failed.

Before you do ANYTHING...pull out all of the RAM and put only one stick in. Make sure you put it in properly, meaning... push down at the edges of the stick, then connect the end clamps. Funny, I was rushing through a build on my own and I was being lazy and pushed down on the center of the RAM stick which bent the Board slightly, and the RAM didn't get a full connection, so I tried to make it post over and over. Finally a friend came over to take a look and "Bro, you're being sloppy, you didn't put the RAM in correctly, you weren't getting a full connection" etc.

I agree, I've done the same thing. Check that, and reset the CMOS. Also, see if you can get it to give you a beep error, like don't put in any RAM or anything. If it's giving you a beep error, I doubt your board is fried.

Feel kinda stupid (always the simply thinks hey) It was the monitor (wasn't coming out of standby)

Manually turned it on & now it works auto again, sadly though through all this the 2nd HDD in my 3x HDD

raid 0 setup was knocked out somehow. So i've spent all day reinstalling windows, I tried XP

It refuses to connect to the web after the 1st reboot from reinstall (2 reinstalls) IDK!!!!! frustrating

So I gave it the flick & now i'm back on vista gonna try xp later for a dual-boot setup

On a positive note I changed the stripe size on the storage half of my raid to 128kb & i'm hitting 335mb/s now :D
