Okay so the first time i try to download over night it shuts off, i try again and it shuts off. Andnow whenever i turn it on...I see the fans moving, and the green light on the cd disk thing but the Graphics card isn't on i don't think because the fan isn't moving but yet theres a 2 red lights on it. There are red lights on the motherboard. And the fan for the cpu in't moving. And ontop of that the monite displays nothing but a NO DVI or VGA or w.e and it stays black and goes from the blue button to orange as in standyby im guessing. WHATS HAPPENNING? When i viruesd checked i had a trojan but i removed it! Whats going on please someone please help me! I've only had this computer for a week and i spent 1k on it. My specs are

Gigabyte P45, Hd4890, Q9400, 4gb Ram and A cm690 motherboard oh ya and 320Gb Hard Drive.

Which two lights are on the graphics card? Here are the following situations:

D1601 - Red LED On, shows critical temperature fault

D1602 - Red LED On, shows External power connector A was removed

D1603 - Red LED On, shows External power connector B was removed

D601 - Red LED On, shows critical Core power fault

These are from game.amd.com Radeon Forums.

As for the two lights on your motherboard, you may want to check the manual for that. Also, what power supply do you have?

Use a multimeter (measures voltages) to check your PSU. They're about ten dollars at local car parts stores. But if your fans aren't spinning on your GPU or CPU, DO NOT attempt to run your computer.... Check your PSU. If it's good, you probably have a faulty motherboard. As for the trojan, a hacker could've easily caused all of your problems.... How did you get a trojan on a new computer so quickly?

This is a good plan, definitely get the PSU tested before concluding it's the motherboard. Also, how do you have your BIOS setup, is it all stock or have you messed with anything? Maybe you have an instability with the CPU or RAM.

Didn't mess with anything. Didn't change anything in the computer itself except my Video card's Fan's speed to 70%.

70% is too high for that card, 45% should be the max.

this is most likely the motherboard, but possibly the powersupply. if your using an asus board, then in my experience its not if, its when it will fail. they do have lots of nice features, but they just don't last, and i always bought the top of the line too.

I think something is overheating, if you can get far enough, check your temperatures. If you are able to bootup then the motherboard is fine. The GPU or CPU is either overheating due to fan failures, or your power supply is faulty.

Ive never had an asus board before but i would have thought they were very good since everyone seems to have one. Ive got a Gigabyte motherboard and you cant go wrong with them.

Not necessarily. I had a bad motherboard (socket 754) that booted when it wanted to, would shut down for no reason whatsoever, and did all sorts of weird stuff... I switched to DFI and didn't have another problem. I have an eVGA 750i FTW now though.

I have reset the video card. I also got some temps i think it might be the cpu not sure. The fan is working though cuz it was moving. I have a Corsair 750TX. I turned on my computer on came the motherboard lights but no video card lights ( which was the normal way for me) so it looked fine i got temps and shut it off cuz i was scared of doing something. I took off the fan and check to see if the cpu was fried but it didn't look like it was nor smelled so im guessing its fine, http://img4.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=p1010309m.jpg

Core 2s are good at dropping their voltage and ultimately shutting themselves off if they get too hot. We built a machine for my friend and he accidently used the wrong screwes for the retention bracket on his heatsink. He was supposed to use the flat screws but he used the ones with a slight radius to them, the result was it looked like the heatsink was installed right but, in reality it was sitting a mm or 2 above the integrated heat spreader. The computer wouldn't stay on very long and then it would just shut off. I finally got into the BIOS and saw that the motherboard was reporting a temperature of 100+ degress celsius. I immediately shut it off and we reinstalled it, worked fine since then.

I think it may be a CPU or RAM instability. I recommend Prime95, and Memtest+. I would also look up the timings and voltages for your RAM online and punch those in manually.

i see you have a 4890, while the computer is turned off squeeze the fan down, to make sure its on all the way. when i got mine it wasn't on all the way and it was overheating which causes no video output, altho the fans should still be trying to spin , and your cpu fan should still be turning too. i can't remember but did you check yoru temps in bios?
