I just recently had a problem with my comp. while in windows it turned to a black screen and all i could do was turn it off the hard way. ever since, when i go to start my comp, all i get is the mobo screen and it never goes past that. furthermore, my keyboard doesnt work so i cant even enter the softmenue or anything. any ideas as to which part of my comp is broken? MY guess is the motherboard is shot but thats just my opinion. any help would be MUCH appreciated.

Try disabling "short post" in BIOS or whatever that setting was called again, and try rebooting to check if it makes it past POST. If it does, go and pop out your Mobo battery (without the PC plugged in of course) & wait for 30 seconds. Afterwards, reboot again and wait for that screen to pop up that would allow you to use the F8 option to boot into safe mode.

Else... are there any error beeps?

Reset your CMOS, either check your motherboard manual on how to reset it or as the other post said....unplug your computer and pop out your motherboard battery for 30 sec.

Going black huh? maybe it's the RAM.

Try cleaning it.
