Hey guys, I could use a bit of help with this one. I recently built a system= Q6600, 500 gig western digital HD, MSI P35 NEO2-FR Intel P35 Socket 775 board, G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 x 2. All went well and system fired up nice the first try. My problem is now when I go to load my OS - Xp-Pro, the message to load raid drivers appears. I select F6 to install from manufacturers disc, which is loaded in my second dvd drive, but windows keeps telling me to load drivers in floppy drive A. I have no A drive in this system, and even if I did it would do me no good. I checked the boot sequence in the bios, and all seems fine there. Any advice on how I can make windows look at the correct drive?

Try disabling the floppy connector in your BIOS. Also check any RAID settings.

Have done all that, all seems well. Could the problem be with the version of XP I am using? I purchased it years ago, and it has no service paks on the disc, just straight XP-Pro.

XP is floppy only for RAID drivers as far as I know. It's the only way I could get them to load anyway.

Ok, I will visit the manufacturers page and download drivers onto a floppy and see if I can load them that way.

Thanks All

Well, tried to load the drivers I downloaded from MSI's site, got an error stating the system wants the oem drivers from the setup disc. Anybody know where on the disc the may be or how I can get these driveers loaded? At this point I am becoming very upset. I have never had this much problems setting up a system. Do you think If I had a copy of XP-Pro with service pak 2 already on it that may help?

I don't think Windows in general has any RAID drivers built it. I have an old copy of XP Home (the original retail version) and a new copy of XP Home SP2 OEM and I needed a floppy for both. After reading this topic I searched the net to see if Vista was different. It doesn't have any native RAID drivers either apparently, although now you can load them from floppy, CD/DVD or USB flash drives.

The Drivers you really want are the ones that are not packed up, such as with a .zip or an .exe.
