I posted this to another forum. So one of the gamespot moderator said me to post this in this forum.

Hello, I can't decide which gaming machine should I buy, whether a pc (I5 4590+gtx 960/R9 285) that costs me around 750 dollar in my country or a PS4. I am confused, because I am not sure that a 750 dollar pc will last at least 5 years that can play game at 1080p. Although ps4 is a lower end system, game developers will some how bring 1080p from it for next 5 years. But for a 750 dollar pc, I am not so sure. I am not a rich guy, so I can't upgrade my pc within next 4 years. Moreover, with this pc budget, I am not getting a new monitor. For a 1080p monitor I had to wait to get some money on my hand. Till then I have to play on my outdated monitor with that pc build. But if I buy ps4 then certainly I can buy a 1080p monitor.

If possible please kindly some one give me proper suggestions.

Hello.

i5 4590 + GTX 960 / R9 285, will be superior to PS4 as you said.

What people forget is that consoles of this generation, don't have any strange architecture that is uknown to developers.

Consoles use x86 now which is the same architecture as PC. Already in the first year developers have started to complain that they already reached the performance limit of consoles.

The only advantage this time consoles have is their low level API.

This advantage will be eliminated with DX12. DX12 will bring low level API (some report even lower than consoles and thats why they hope XBOX1 to gain performance from this) to PCs so in the new games in lets say 2-3 years, I highly doubt that a PS4 will have better visuals than an i5 + GTX960 lvl PC.

But I would advise you to wait a bit and see what AMD and Nvidia will bring soon with the 380X and the 960ti, which they will give you more performance for just a few $$ more.

The PC of course is better. Make sure you get the 4GB model of the 960 or better yet, get a 970.

I am afraid that nano will be far away his budget. I am expecting it at $350-400 range...

I am afraid that none can answer this question. Even the devs that planning DX12 releases for their games (like Witcher 3 patch and Batman AK patch) wouldn't know since they are still working on them...

These cards have the same performance for DX11. So without some games with DX12 arrive, we don't know for sure...

AMD didn't say anything about price, but they said that they want to compete with GTX970/GTX980.

In my opinion going for GTX970 spot is great, since the real money of maxwell was GTX970 which had the best sales for a loooong time.

A PS4 will be much more consistent over it's lifespan. It's small, quiet, streamlined UI where everything works via the included gamepad. You can sell your games, trade them, buy used, rent them, borrow them...etc. None of that is available for PC. You also don't have to mess with the OS updates, driver updates, audio technicalities and differences, tweaks and adjustments or debug any issues you may encounter with a game or OS because even from a software position, it is a non streamlined and inconsistent experience. Most games are target focused for console. Developers also try harder during development to create tricks for the console's hardware to push more.

For anyone that can only afford 1 system for a generation, I always recommend console. If you go too cheap on PC hardware, something is often bound to fail, such as a PSU..heck sometimes the bios or NB chip fails, capacitors leak....it happens all the time. When you go higher end hardware, you get solid state capacitors...etc so they hold up better. That's not to say that consoles can't fail similarly but typically if you don't abuse them, they'll last because factories have tolerances towards making contracted, proprietary hardware and stick with the same suppliers throughout the contract. You don't get that on PC hardware.

Well, the PS4 isn't running a whole lot of games at 1080p, and if they are they aren't at 60FPS. With the PC you would be able to play any new games that come out at a better performance level than the PS4...given the developer optimizes the game right *cough* Batman Arkham Knight *cough*. Not to mention it will be a full fledged PC capable of doing any number of other things.
