I'm connecting my laptop to my 32" Samsung LCD via VGA cable. I'm primarily interested in watching Netflix "Watch Now" on the TV instead of on the computer screen. The TV displays the computer screen great, except it only displays in either 4:3 or stretched out to 16:9. I've been unable to display the full widescreen format. I have run the auto-tune under the computer setup in the Samsung menu, and nothing happens.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

The Samsung TV limits you to the choices of 4:3 and 16:9 modes on the PC input. The "zoom" modes aren't available. If your source is 16:9 and you aren't able to get it to go full screen, I would wonder about settings on the notebook or the player software itself. If you haven't already tried it: I would suggest setting it so that the TV is the primary monitor for the notebook when it's connected, and selecting the TV's native display resolution. Avoid using a clone display setting since the notebook screen's resolution may not be the same as the TV's native or even the same ratio. If you've done that and 16:9 videos aren't filling the screen then you have to wonder about the media player. Does Netflix want their own software installed to play the movies or can you use a real media player? Also keep in mind that theatrical releases are commonly in an aspect ratio like 2.35:1, which will still be "letterboxed" on 16:9 displays. Edit: I have a desktop permanently connected to my 40" Samsung and have no problems playing anything. I'm not currently a Netflix user, though.

I hadn't thought about making the TV the primary monitor. I'll give that a try.

Thanks!
