I have a 450W PSU and I'm planning on getting a BFG 8800GT 512MB card.

The problem I have is using this:

I know the 6 pin end goes into the PCI-E card but where does the two other 4 pin ends go??

I have cables coming out of the PSU and into the HD and also the CD drive. and out of HD and CD drive i have a 4 pin thing coming out of it. I'm bad at explaining stuff so I'll just show it to you.

This is the one to the HD:

and this is to my CD Drive:

can I just connect the two 4 pins to those?

yes you can connect these 2 cable and plug the Six-pin end into the graphics card, btw what brand is your PSU ? you must have at least 22 Amps on the 12V rails otherwise you are endangering your PC !

If the PSU is so old or cheap and generic enough to not have a dedicated 6 pin PCI-E connector (let alone 2 of them) I'd have some serious reservations about continuing to use it. Consider purchasing a new 600+ watt PSU from a reputable brand like ABS, Antec, Silverstone, Thermaltake, etc.

Get a Corsair HX520w, you won't regret it. If you need extra power, the HX620w is enough for a HD4870 X2.

I would definitely buy a new PSU. I'm no expert but I would go with at least a 600w. I'm thinking about what I said and a 550w may be cutting it a little close. Maybe, you can list your entire system spec so we can help you further. It's not just the card we're concerned about.

OMG, a HX520 is OVERKILL for a single 8800GT. It's not about the Watts, it's about the amperage. A system with a single 8800GT at LOAD wouldn't even consume 400 watts, MUCH less. You need another PSU, yes, the HX520w is a high quality modular PSU, get it.

The hx520 is 99 after MIR at newegg. I just named that one because it's quality stuff. There are other great PSUs that could be cheaper, but I can't help you further, sorry. Good luck, keep in mind, amperage on 12v rails is important, and it should be a good brand.

What brand and model? A lot of cheaper PSU's "exaggerate" their specs.

But if it's a quality unit, that is more than enough.

Where do you live, USA, UK???

I live in KSA so supply units are pretty hard to find, you wont believe how many stores I went through to find this haha

Company is "Eton" and model is "PS-10" Looks pretty cheap but I can already see the difference in my screen. I'm guessing I wasnt getting enough power before to my screen so there would be some weird things on it. But now I cant see it anymore.

you live in KSA ! i live in lebanon and it's also hard to find what u want but i did find a Thermaltake Toughpower 600W W103 PSU for 175$ from an internet site that delivers all over lebanon. try searching for sites like this for the middle-east or that ship internationaly that's ur best bet. And for this PSU you found it is low-quality and could damage the PC! Btw i have the same GFX.

Gd Luck khaye !

I'm in the US, so this has no direct affect on me. However...

I can tell you where to shop in the US, UK, or Canada. If one of you finds a good shop or site for the Middle East (or any other part of the world) please make a point of announcing it in a post or something. For instance there was a poster from Egypt the other week and all anyone could do is shrug and say "keep looking".

We get people on this forum from all over the world but the majority are from the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. I feel bad when, due to lack of knowledge, we can't directly link you the best hardware deals outside of those four countries.
