I have some regular 3.5mm headphones. I want to listen to the sound from my Xbox through them. My TV has a Headphone jack so I can listen to it like that. But everywhere else I've searched says to connect them using the Audio/Video (Red/White) and an adapter. Does each method yield the same product or would it be better for me to use the Audio/Video. I was just wondering if the left and right sound will still work correctly in the headphones and if the stereo, mono, and sound quality will be the same in either method. Thanks in advance. And as you can see I'm not very knowledgeable about this type of thing so hold back any critical comments.

You won't have any way to control the volume if you use the red\white adapter directly to 3.5mm. You better plug it in your TV.

The controller adapters, such as the ones in the sticky, will let you use headphones for chat and a separate mic, but game audio will still go through your television or entertainment system. The best solution is the Astro Mixamp (~$130), which will let you listen to game audio, chat audio, and supports a separate microphone. The alternative is the Turtle Beach DSS 2 (~$75), but that will require additional cables to split the headset out into a headphone and mic, and is a less robust piece of equipment, in general. Good luck, Boz
